MAC Divers Begin NCAA Zone Diving Championships on Monday

Buffalo to Send Five Divers to NCAA Zone A Diving Championships 
BUFFALO, NY –
The University at Buffalo swimming and diving program is sending select qualified divers to the 2026 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, hosted in Annapolis, Maryland. Five Buffalo divers will participate at the regional competition between Monday, March 9th, and Tuesday, March 10th, competing to qualify for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships.

ONE-METER
The one-meter diving event is scheduled to take place on Monday, with two preliminary rounds due to a large number of qualifiers. The first preliminary round will begin at 10:30 a.m., with the second preliminary round scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The top 18 divers from the preliminary rounds will advance to the finals scheduled for 6:45 p.m. The top six finishers after 12 total dives will advance to the NCAA Championships on March 18th.

The Bulls have four divers qualified for the one-meter event, with Presley DorsettMallory HannaAdele Melamud and Sophie Meuwissen all set to compete. Meuwissen (2nd, 282.60) and Hanna (3rd, 279.80) earned medals in the one-meter at Mid-American Conference Championships. Meuwissen's score of 282.60 also ranks ninth in program history. Dorsett's season-best score of 283.30 came in the consolation finals round of the one-meter at conference championships. Melamud's personal record score of 279.38 was set against Duquesne this season. Divers had to post a score of 265 or better to qualify for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.
 
THREE-METER
Three-meter diving is scheduled for Tuesday and will feature two preliminary rounds, one at 10:30 a.m. and the second at 3:45 p.m. The top 18 will advance to the finals scheduled for 6:45 p.m. The top five divers with the highest 12-dive scores will advance to the NCAA Championships on March 20th.

The Bulls have five divers in the three-meter event, with Dorsett, Hanna, Melamud, Meuwissen and Maggie Meyers all qualified. Melamud leads the Bulls in the event this season, posting the roster's top score of 321.55 at the Zippy Invite. The freshman's personal record also ranks seventh in program history. Meuwissen's season best of 293.10 was set at the program's season-opening meet against Cornell and Niagara. Hanna set her season best against Duquesne (283.10). Meyers qualified with a score of 287.55 at the UB Invite in November, marking the junior's first appearance at Zone Diving Championships. Dorsett rounds out the Bulls qualifiers with a score of 280.10 set at the Zippy Invite. Divers had to post a score of 280 or better to qualify for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships.


Eastern Michigan Set to Host NCAA Zone Diving Championships
YPSILANTI, Mich.
– Eastern Michigan University will host the 2026 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships at Jones Natatorium, Monday-Wednesday, March 9-11.

The meet will begin at 1 p.m. on both Monday and Tuesday, with the women's one-meter dive on Monday and the three-meter dive on Tuesday. Wednesday's competition will feature the platform dive, beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Who's Competing?
Eastern will have Megan Lupa and Rose Kendrick competing in the meet, Lupa in the platform dive and Kendrick in both the one-meter and three-meter. Lupa qualified for the platform dive at Oakland University's Golden Grizzly Classic, Dec. 3-6, as she finished in second place with a score of 237.05 points.
Kendrick first made the cut for the one-meter dive against Bowling Green, Nov. 7, as she scored 268.35 points, while earning her spot in the three-meter against Ball State, Jan. 24, with a personal best score of 295.13 points.

Last Time at Zone Diving Championships
The Eagles were highlighted by Lupa at last year's NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, March 10-12, as she became just the second NCAA Championships qualifier in the platform dive in program history. On the final day of competition, Lupa finished 10th in the finals with a combined score of 480.20 points. Other divers who qualified for the meet last season were Taityn SpeierMalia MaireRebekah Knapp, and Ciara Wheeler. Lupa competed in all three diving events, Knapp dove in the one-meter and three-meter, and Speier, Maire, and Wheeler all dove in the one-meter.

Last Time Out Highlights
Eastern last competed at the MAC Championships, Feb. 25-28. Leading the divers was Kendrick, as she was named MAC Freshman Diver of the Year, following her fourth-place finish in the three-meter dive A final with 279.30 points, and her seventh-place finish in the one-meter dive final with 257.35 points. Aisling Gutierrez finished eighth in the three-meter A final, scoring 202.15 points, and finished 16th in the one-meter B final with 227.45 points. Lupa finished 15th in the three-meter B final with 245.15 points.


Massachusetts heads to Zone A Diving Championships
AMHERST, Mass. –
 Members of the Massachusetts diving team are set to compete in the 2026 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, hosted by Navy, on Monday, March 9, through Wednesday, March 11, in Annapolis, Maryland, at Lejeune Hall.

Sophomores Danielle Guerin and Khrystyna Yaremyn will be competing throughout the three-day event.

Both divers qualified for both the one-meter and three-meter diving events, with Yaremyn also qualifying for the platform dive.

Additionally, Shreeya Sinha qualified for the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in the one-meter and three-meter dives.

Returning to Zones
Guerin and Yaremyn are returning to the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships, marking their second straight appearance.

In the one-meter dive, Guerin (184.85) and Yaremyn (174.95) took 75th and 77th, respectively.

The three-meter saw Yaremyn was 57th with a score of 222.90.

What's at Stake?
Guerin and Yaremyn are fighting for spots in the 2026 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The women's championships are being hosted by Georgia Tech and will be held in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center. The women will compete on Wednesday, March 18, through Saturday, March 21.


Three Ohio Divers Set for NCAA Zone C Diving Championships 
ATHENS, Ohio -- Three members of the Ohio diving squad head to Ypsilanti, Mich. March 9-11 for the 2026 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships. The three-day event is hosted by Eastern Michigan inside Jones Natatorium. The event begins on Monday, March 9 at 1 p.m. for the 1-meter dive. On Tuesday, March 10, the 3-meter event is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET, while platform is scheduled for Wednesday, March 11 at 5:15 p.m. ET. All three days will be streamed on YouTube. Junior Astrid Pichardo will represent the Bobcats in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive. Junior Stephanie Balthaser will join Pichardo in the 1-meter, while freshman Bella Basford will compete in the 3-meter event. 

Pichardo is coming off a stellar finish at the 2026 MAC Championships two weeks ago, finishing seventh in the 3-meter dive with a score of 261.10, and sixth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 247.85. In order to advance to the 2026 NCAA Swim and Dive Championships next week, Pichardo is looking to finish at least 10th in the 1-meter and seventh in the 3-meter. 

Balthaser is making her first trip to NCAA Zones and is coming off an 18th-place finish in the 3-meter event at MACs, finishing with a score of 227.05.  

Basford is also making her first trip to Zones. In her first MAC Championships, Basford placed fifth in the 1-meter consolation final, 13th overall, with a score of 247.85. Meanwhile, in the 3-meter event, she placed third in the consolation final and 11th overall, finishing with a score of 251.50. 

The rest of the Ohio swimming and diving squad will return to action later this week at the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational, March 12-14 at the FAST Facility in Ocala, Fla.
