KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team won its sixth-straight match, wrapping up its non-conference schedule with a 6-1 home-win against Northwood on Friday afternoon at West Hills Athletic Club.
The Broncos (9-4) started off winning all three doubles matches to take the point. Freida Weijerman and
Marielou Baudouin downed Brigette Gomez and Daniljela Danilovic 6-0 at No. 3 for the early advantage.
Sienna Osborne and
Julia Frazier secured the point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 over Savannah Matuszweksi and Giada Campia.
Lola Glantz and
Ayana Yaguchi wrapped it up with a 7-5 win at No. 2 over Yuliia Khmara and Valeria Amorocho.
Graduate student
Polina Khotko pushed WMU's lead to 2-0 with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win over Brigette Gomez at No. 6. Senior
Audrey Smitek put the Broncos up 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Ciampa at No. 3 before NU got on the board with a win by Amorocho at No. 4. Weijerman clinched the match victory with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Danilovic at No. 2 for WMU's fourth point. Glantz made it 5-1 with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 win at No. 1 over Matuszweski, with Baudouin getting the final point with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win over Khmara at No. 5.
Western Michigan opens MAC play next Sunday, hosting Miami at 12 p.m.
