Flacons Win First MAC Tennis Match Since 2022
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University (BGSU) tennis team took a hard earned victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles 4-3.

This marks the Falcons tennis program's first win in the Mid-American Conference since the 2021-22 season where BGSU defeated Northern Illinois 4-3 (Mar.12 2022).

DOUBLES
  • The Falcons earned the first point of the contest, winning on doubles courts two and three.
  • Libby Blair and Kiera Taylor were the first off the court, def. Sabrina Tolstova and Matilde Parreira 6-4, on court two.
  • Konstantina Adamopoulou and Leticia Fonseca  got a hard earned 7-5 victory over Iva Daneva and Regina Mendez on court three. Adamopoulou and Fonseca came back from down 2-5.

SINGLES

  • The Falcons earned three victories during the singles contest to propel them to the victory.
  • Cylova Hukmasabiya def. Tia Clemens 6-4, 6-1.
  • Qianyu Liu def. Peghal Kharadkar 6-0, 6-1.
  • Sabrina Tolstova def. Lubby Blair 6-2, 7-5.
  • Leteicia Fonseca put the nail in the coffin, defeating 2-6, 7-6, 6-3.
  • Matilde Parreira def. Konstantina Adamopoulou 6-2, 6-7, 6-2.

Buffalo Earns Road Win at Northern Illinois on Friday | Box Score 
DEKALB, IL – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team (15-4, 2-0 MAC) defeated Northern Illinois 5-2 on Friday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls improve to 2-0 in Mid-American Conference play.

Buffalo got off to a solid start as Julia Laspro and Sarah Hartel won 6-4 at third doubles and Esmee Andresen and Maria Glowacka rallied from 3-1 down for a 6-4 victory of their own at the first position to clinch the doubles point and give UB a 1-0 lead.

In singles action, the hosts got on the board with a win at second singles, but the Bulls answered with three straight wins as Sarah Hartel battled to a 6-4, 7-6 victory at fourth singles and Glowacka overcame a dropped second set to win 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at third singles before Andresen battled to a three-set victory of her own, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, to clinch the match for UB. Blanca Berges then rounded out the scoring for UB with a 6-4, 7-5 win at six singles.

Up next, Buffalo returns to action on Friday, March 27 at Eastern Michigan.


Massachusetts Edges Miami for Fourth Consecutive Win | Box Score 
OXFORD, Ohio. – University of Massachusetts tennis secured its fourth straight win, edging out Mid-American Conference foe Miami (OH), 4-3,on Friday afternoon. It also marked UMass' third consecutive league victory.

The Minutewomen improved to 11-3 on the season and 3-0 in MAC play, while the RedHawks move to 4-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Massachusetts earned the doubles point, winning at court No. 3 and No. 1. The duo of Madara Markevica and Martina Pavissich defeated Nina Chavez and Lovisa Valentinsson of Miami, 6-2, at the No. 3 doubles first. The RedHawks' Maria Komar and Avery Voss won, 6-3, at No. 2 over Amanda de Oliveira and Amelia Tye to tie it up, but Ella Faessler and Renata Farima picked up a 6-2 win to grab the point for the Minutewomen over Allie Faulkner and Maria Luisa Oliveira of the RedHawks.

Tye made it a 2-0 contest with a 6-0, 6-1, triumph at No. 2 singles over Miami's Faulkner, before Massachusetts jumped out to a 3-0 lead with Faessler downing Oliveira of the RedHawks at the No. 1 position. Miami's Evelyn Risner defeated Fiona Ao, 7-5, 6-3, at court No. 4, before Pavissich took down Voss of Miami, 7-5, 6-2, at the No. 3 slot to give UMass the 4-1 lead and clinch the match point.

Miami (OH) collected two more points at courts No. 5 and No. 6 with the RedHawks winning in three sets, but it was not enough, as the Minutewomen came away with a 4-3 victory.

The Minutewomen head to Muncie, Indiana, to face Ball State on Sunday, March 22, at 11 a.m.
