CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the All-MAC Teams and Specialty Award selections for the 2025-26 men’s basketball season today. All awards were voted on by the league's 13 head coaches, with coaches unable to vote for their own student-athletes.
Miami's Travis Steele is the first coach for the Red and White to take MAC Coach of the Year since Charlie Coles received the award in 2005. This season, Miami moved into the national rankings for the first time since Feb. 15, 1999 and currently sits at No. 20 in the polls. Miami set a new program record for wins in a season, breaking the mark of 25 established last year. The RedHawks also hold the program record for most consecutive road wins overall (15) and in a season (14). Miami has secured the best start for a program in MAC history, the most consecutive conference wins in MAC history and the longest win streak in MAC history. The 31-0 RedHawks are just the fifth program this century (NCAA Division I) to go undefeated during regular season play.
Miami's Peter Suder becomes the seventh player in Miami program history and the first since Michael Bramos in 2009 to be named MAC Player of the Year. Suder, a two-time captain and Miami's leading scorer (14.8 ppg), earned All-MAC First Team honors for the second consecutive season. He stands at 11th in the MAC in field goal percentage (.556), eighth in three-point percentage (.420), ninth in assists (3.9), 10th in assist/turnover ratio (2.1) and 10th in steals (1.4). Suder ranks 54th in the country from the field at 55.6% as well.
Bowling Green's Javontae Campbell continues a streak of 25 consecutive seasons with at least one Falcon named to an All-MAC Team at the conclusion of the season. He is the third MAC Defensive Player of the Year for the Falcons, joining DeMar Moore (1997) and Richaun Holmes (2015). He is also the first player in program history to be named to the All-MAC Defensive Team multiple times, earning the recognition last year as well. A native of Muskogee, Okla., Javontae Campbell put together another historic campaign defensively, leading the nation in steals with 96 and steals per game averaging 3.1 per contest. His 96 steals once again broke the BGSU program record, which he set last year at 90, and is currently third in MAC history. He's been named to the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Late-Season Team, one of 15 total players named and the only from a mid-major. Campbell is also a finalist for the Lefty Driesell Award, presented annually to the top defensive player in Division I.
Toledo's Leroy Blyden Jr. leads MAC freshmen with 16.2 ppg and has registered the most points (502) by a freshman in program history. He ranks in the MAC's Top 10 with an 85.5 FT% (3rd), 1.7 spg (4th), 4.5 apg (7th) and 16.2 ppg (9th). Blyden opened league play with a 36-point outing vs. Western Michigan (Dec. 30), the most by a Rocket freshman in 25 years. He then capped off the conference campaign with a 20-point, season-high 13-assist, seven-rebound outing vs. Buffalo (March 6). His 13 assists vs. the Bulls were one shy of a school record and the most by a Rocket in 44 years.
Scott is the sixth player in program history to earn the award, the first Akron player to earn it in consecutive seasons and multiple times along with becoming just the second player in the history of the MAC to earn the award in consecutive seasons. Nick Perkins from Buffalo was named the Sixth Man of the Year from 2017-19. Shammah, also earning an All-MAC Third Team honor, appeared in all 31 regular-season games while starting 12. In 2025-26, Scott averages 12.6 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 0.3 steals per game. He has scored in double-figures 17 times this season while recording 5+ assists in eight games. He set a career-high in scoring against Yale in the Paradise Jam with 25 points falling on a 9-of-12 night. Scott has led the Zips in scoring three times this season while leading in assists four times.
