MAC Shows Strong Effort at Diving Invites

Ball State Shows Strong Effort at Miami Invite 
OXFORD, Ohio. –
The Ball State men's and women's diving teams ended their regular seasons on day two of the Miami (OH) Invitational, showing strong performances inside the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.

On the women's side, Ella Penny placed 15th on 1M (206.60), followed by Hannah Justice in 18th (198.40) and Ava Pavich in 20th (166.60). Pavich also finished 17th on the 3M, scoring 161.25.

The programs now enter preparations for the Mid-American Conference Championships (Feb. 25-28). The women travel to Akron, Ohio, for competition at the Ocasek Natatorium.

UMass Divers Compete at Rutgers Platform Invitational
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Five members of the University of Massachusetts diving team completed competition at the Rutgers Platform Invitational at the Rutgers Aquatics Center on Saturday morning.

Freshman Carson Harrington placed second with a total of 357.55 for the Minutemen, as sophomore Khrystyna Yaremyn finished fifth with a score of 234.25 for the Minutewomen. Both Harrington and Yaremyn earned qualifying scores for the platform dive for the upcoming NCAA Zones.

Massachusetts swimming and diving will prepare for its respective conference championships. The Minutewomen travel to Akron, Ohio, for the Mid-American Conference Championships on Wednesday, February 25, through Saturday, February 28. 


Ohio Diving Competes at Miami  
OXFORD, Ohio – The Bobcats' Diving team traveled to Miami (OH) (Feb. 6-7) for one last meet before the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Individually, junior Astrid Pichardo (Guanajuato, Mexico) finished in second place in the 1-meter dive and fourth place in the 3-meter dive, leading the Bobcats' diving efforts. 

On Friday (Feb. 6), freshman Alyssa Kiszczak (Thousand Oaks, Ca) was the only Bobcat to participate in the platform dive. Kiszczak finished in sixth place with a score of 172.05.

Saturday morning started with the 3-meter dive, where Pichardo was the highest finishing Bobcat in fourth place with a score of 260.85. Senior Stephanie Balthaser (Delaware, Ohio) finished in eighth place with a score of 231.30. Kiszczak finished in 10th place with a score of 223.10, and freshman Bella Basford (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished in 12th place with a score of 215.85.

In the 1-meter dive, Pichardo finished in second place with a score of 262.40. Basford finished in sixth place with a score of 240.75, Balthaser finished in 11th place with a score of 233.95, and Kiszczak finished in 19th place with a score of 197.85.

The Bobcats return to the pool Feb. 25-28 for the MAC Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by Akron.
