Jones Garners 200th Career Victory as Zips Roll Duquesne, 17-6

AKRON, Ohio – Sparked by a five-goal and three-assist performance from junior Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) the University of Akron lacrosse team registered a dominating 17-6 triumph past Duquesne on Saturday (Feb. 7) in the season opener for both schools at the Stile Athletics Field House.

The win represented the 200th career coaching triumph for third-year Akron head coach Elaine Jones.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Akron garnered a game-high five goals and three assists from Hinchcliffe.
• Adding four, three and three goals, respectively, were seniors Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.), Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.).
• Additionally, tally one goal apiece were juniors Grace Hardy (Oshawa, Ontario) and Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.).
• Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Califano Bellmore, N.Y.) provided a key defensive effort for Akron with a team-high nine saves in her collegiate debut.
• Hinchcliffe and Sikorski dished out a game-high three assists for the Zips. Adding one assist was Fletcher.
• Sophomore Julia Mattingly (Leonardtown, Md.) and Hinchcliffe each posted a team-high four ground balls, while Hinchcliffe corralled a game-best five draw controls.
• Hinchcliffe led Akron with two caused turnovers.
• Recording 10, seven and five shots, respectively, was Hinchcliffe, Katie Baumer and Fletcher.
