AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron lacrosse junior Sienna Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and senior Heather Carey (Williamsville, N.Y.) combined to score 11 goals to propel the Zips to a 17-4 triumph past Radford on Wednesday (Feb. 25) at the Stile Athletics Field House.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Akron garnered a team- and career-high six goals from Hinchcliffe, while Carey netted a career-best five goals.
• Senior Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y) tallied three goals, while adding one goal apiece was senior Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.), freshman Savannah Hinchcliffe (Rochester, N.Y.) and junior Kaitlyn Sikorski (Plymouth, Minn.).
• Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Adrianna Califano Bellmore, N.Y.) registered three saves for the Zips.
• Fletcher tallied a game- and career-high four assists for Akron, while Katie Baumer, sophomores Kayli Grant (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and Julia Mattingly (Leonardtown, Md.) and Sikorski collected, four, two, one and one assist, respectively.
• Baumer's four assists represents a career-high mark, while Grant earned the first two points of her collegiate career with a pair of assists.
• Califano, senior Sarah Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) and junior Evelyn White (Dublin, Ohio), who made her first collegiate start, posted a game-high three ground balls each, while Mattingly pulled in a team- and career-best nine draw controls.
• Sarah Baumer collected a game-high three caused turnovers for Akron.
• Recording 11 shots, including six on goal was Hinchcliffe.

AMHERST, Mass. – The Massachusetts women's lacrosse team outscored visiting UMass Lowell 8-1 in the second half, scoring the game's final five goals to pull away for the 12-6 win on Wednesday at Garber Field. Kassidy Morris led the offense with five goals and seven points, while Lil Hancock (three goals, one assist) and Ava Connaughton (one goal, three assists) each had four points apiece.
"Having the UMass rivalry, playing for the Kennedy Cup, is something they are aware of and we know UMass Lowell plays the best game against us," said head coach Jana Drummond. "They are a very gritty, very physical and aggressive which works in their favor. I think for us, it was really just taking the second half to regroup, reorganize, check into the game plan and know what we're capable of and trusting us to execute well."
While Morris, Hancock and Connaughton led the way offensively, the Minutewomen defense caused 16 of the River Hawks' 20 turnovers, led by three apiece from Hancock, Sienna Diglio and Caitlyn Naughton. Hancock filled up the box score with her four points (to tie a career high), two groundballs, draw control and three caused turnovers. Tuesday marked her second-career hat trick.
A tight start saw UMass Lowell score first, but the Minutewomen pulled even at one then two, which was the score after one quarter of play.
UMass responded with two straight goals, from Morris and Norah Prizzi, to take a 4-2 lead midway through the second. However, three straight UMass Lowell goals gave the River Hawks a 5-4 halftime advantage.
Morris set the tone just 2:28 into the third with her third goal of the game. The Minutewomen lead reached 7-5 after goals from Onderdonk and Hancock, but UMass Lowell got one back in the final minute to pull within 7-6 after three quarters of play.
Massachusetts erased any doubt in the fourth, holding a commanding 14-1 edge in shots while scoring five times to pull away for the 12-6 final. Hancock and Morris each scored twice in the fourth.
Final shots were 38-16 in favor of UMass, while the Minutewomen held a 17-12 edge in groundballs. UMass was 13-of-16 on clears, while forcing the River Hawks to 13-of-22 clearing. Bayley Duffy made five saves for UMass across Alexa Kuhn, who made 11 for UMass Lowell.
