Avery Hobson recorded a match-high 18 kills on 37 attempts to hit at a .432-clip and lead Bowling Green to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-22) sweep of Kent State in Mid-American Conference volleyball action on Thursday evening at the M.A.C. Center.
Sophomore
Anastasija Bozic added 11 kills as the Falcons racked up 47 kills throughout the match while hitting at a .261 efficiency. Senior Amanada Otten dished out a match-high 30 assists while teammate
Sydnie Hernandez was credited with a match-best 14 digs. As a team, BG recorded an 18-10 advantage in block assists with sophomore
Cecily Waynar being credited with seven of those.
For Kent State, Mercedez Brown led the way with eight kills for a Golden Flashes offense that averaged just .087 throughout the evening. Christina Vigil scored 24 assists, and Lesley Furuta tallied 12 digs.
Falcon Facts
- Bowling Green improved to 3-0 in conference play for the third consecutive season and the seventh time in the past eight years.
- With the win, BGSU increased its record against Kent State to 71-24 and have claimed a victory in 12 straight meetings. The winning stretch is the longest against any current MAC opponent.
- The Falcons have held their opponents to hit under the .100 mark three times this season, including twice during conference play. Opponents are averaging a .160 hitting percentage through 14 contests this year which is the lowest opponent attack percentage in program history at this point in a season since the COVID-shortened 2020-21 campaign (.157).
- The .164 attack percentage by opponents is the lowest by any MAC team and is the 29th-lowest in the nation.
- Bowling Green's 47 kills mark the highest total in any three-set match this season, beating out the 46 kills that were recorded in a sweep of Fresno State (Aug. 30).
- Otten's 30 assists grow her career total to 2,771 career assists, moving into eighth place in program history. She sits 100 assists out of matching Sam Fish (2007-10) who holds the seventh-most assists in program history and the fourth highest in the Rally Scoring Era.
- Hernandez notched her 936th career dig, 64 away from the 1,000-dig milestone.

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University volleyball team (9-5, 1-2 MAC) rolled past Buffalo (9-5, 1-2 MAC) in three sets (25-19, 25-17, 25-20) on Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Miami opened the match with two blocks and a Chelsea Williams kill to earn an early 4-0 lead. Molly Creech found her rhythm offensively with two kills of her own, and the Bulls hit two attack errors to keep the RedHawks in control at 12-7. The Bulls looked to make a comeback after closing to within two points, 15-13. A flurry of kills and a Holland Van Deusen service ace helped Miami keep control of the set at 22-15. A kill from Williams and a bad set by the Bulls secured the first set for the RedHawks, 25-19.
- Miami got off to a 4-1 start in the second set thanks to a pair of kills from Creech and Raegan Lantz. Buffalo went on to even the score at seven apiece and took its first lead of the set at 10-9. Kills from Lauren Coyne, Creech and Williams sent the RedHawks into the media timeout ahead 15-13. With the Bulls making a push at Miami's lead, Lydia Michelin put down back-to-back kills that were set up by Van Deusen to create separation from the Bulls at 18-15. A block by Miami, a service ace from Madison Brown and a kill from Coyne extended the RedHawk advantage to 22-15. Miami secured a 25-17 second-set victory after the RedHawks recorded a block and Buffalo committed an attack error.
- The Bulls managed to grab a 7-4 lead at the beginning of the third set before kills from Creech and Michelin, as well as a service ace from Brown, knotted the score at 9-9. Trailing 18-17, the Red and White used a 5-0 run to claim momentum of the third set at 22-18. The Red and White scored the final two points of the set after the Bulls had a service error, and Williams smashed her tenth kill to give Miami a 25-20 third-set win.

- Creech totaled 12 kills for the Red and White.
- Brown led the RedHawks with 21 assists and two service aces.
- Coyne and Michelin each led the match with five blocks.
- Miami had a .268 hitting percentage in comparison to .151 by Buffalo.
