MASON, Ohio – The Miami University women's tennis team opened play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships on Thursday. The RedHawks went 7-1 in singles on the day, with Clara Owen, Evelyn Risner, and Nina Chavez each winning twice to advance to the round of 16.

• Evelyn Risner (Miami) def. Saito (Austin Peay), 6-4, 6-4
• Nina Chavez (Miami) def. Stoyanov (Lipscomb), 7-5, 6-4

Highlights
Clara Owen knocked off the tournament's No. 1 seed, Louisville's Vustsina, after dropping the first set. Owen took over from there, winning 12 of the final 13 games to close out a 4-6, 6-0, 6-1 victory. Nina Chavez also earned a win over a seeded opponent, defeating No. 16 seed Fuduric of Cincinnati in straight sets before adding a second straight-set win over Lipscomb. Evelyn Risner did not drop a set on the day, and Zara Darken picked up a straight-set win over Xavier in her opening match.


Saturday, Oct. 10
MASON, Ohio – The Miami University women's tennis team continued play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships on Friday and Saturday. Allie Faulkner and Maria Luisa Oliveira won all three of their doubles matches to advance to the quarterfinals, dropping just four games along the way.

Allie Faulkner and Maria Luisa Oliveira opened doubles play with an 8-1 win over Tennessee State on Friday, then followed with an 8-0 shutout of Northern Kentucky on Saturday morning. The duo closed out the day with an 8-3 win over East Tennessee State to reach the quarterfinals. Clara Owen and Nina Chavez also earned an 8-2 win over UT Chattanooga on Friday before falling to Cincinnati on Saturday

MASON, Ohio – The Miami University women's tennis team wrapped up doubles play at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships on Sunday. Allie Faulkner and Maria Luisa Oliveira's run ended in the quarterfinals against No. 3 seed Williams/Dunac of Indiana.

Highlights
Faulkner and Oliveira finished the regional with a 3-1 doubles record, earning wins over Tennessee State, Northern Kentucky, and East Tennessee State to reach the quarterfinals. The pair dropped just four games across their first three matches before falling to the tournament's No. 3 seed.

Up Next: The RedHawks will compete at the MAC Fall Individual Championships on Friday, Oct. 23, in Kalamazoo, Mich. The event will run all day.
