Ohio Defeats Bloomsburg, 37-3, in Friday Night #MACtion

The Ohio Wrestling Team (4-1, 1-0 MAC) kicked off 2026 in dominant fashion, defeating Bloomsburg (8-7, 0-2 MAC) 37-3 in their first MAC dual of the season.
 
Redshirt senior Garrett Thompson was a standout for the Bobcats in his return to the mat. Wrestling at 174 lbs, the 2025 MAC Tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler made quick work of Bloomsburg's Vasilios Dimou, recording an immediate takedown followed by three nearfalls to clinch a 15-0 technical fall victory 1:53 into the match.
 
At 125 lbs, freshman Brayden Teunissen fought back from an early 3-1 deficit to Bloomsburg's Justin Jones to record a second-period pin, grabbing 6 points for the Bobcats to start the match.
 
At 133 lbs, junior Ryan Meek recorded an 11-0 major decision victory over Bloomsburg's Richie Woods, recording two takedowns in the match and earning a bonus point for nearly five minutes of riding time.
 
At 141 lbs, freshman Abe Hermes flipped an early deficit to Bloomsburg's Richie Woods with a takedown late in the second period and another takedown in the third period, securing an 8-4 decision victory.
 
Redshirt junior Paul Woo provided the night's most dramatic finish at 149 lbs. Facing a 5-4 deficit early in the third period, Woo recorded an escape and fought for a takedown as time expired to secure the 8-5 decision victory over Bloomsburg's Dustin Elliot.
 
Redshirt junior Derek Raike scored an 11-2 major decision victory at 157 lbs. over Bloomsburg's William Morrow. Raike recorded a takedown immediately in the first period, an additional takedown in the third period, and earned a bonus point for over four minutes of riding time.
 
At 165 lbs, redshirt junior Jack Lledo fought to a close 4-2 decision victory over Braidon Woodward of Bloomsburg.
 
Redshirt Senior Sal Perrine improved to 5-0 in dual meets this season with a dominant 20-4 technical fall victory over Bloomsburg's Connor Hudak. Perrine recorded three takedowns in the first period to jump out to a 15-4 lead in the match, and a third-period takedown clinched the match along with a bonus point for 1:34 of riding time.
 
At 197 lbs, redshirt senior Zayne Lehman moved to 5-0 in duals with an 11-0 major decision victory over Bloomsburg's Coy Raines. Lehman recorded a takedown late in the first period and added to it with a second-period reversal and third-period takedown. Lehman received two additional points for opponent stalling and a bonus point for riding time to clinch the major decision victory.

The Bobcats will return to action January 9-10 when they travel to Cedar Falls, Iowa to take part in the NWCA National Duals. Competition will start at 10 a.m. on Jan 9, and the tournament will be streaming on FloWrestling.
