Ball State S&D Close Weekend with Victory Over the Eagles | Results
YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Ball State women's swimming and diving program followed yesterday evening's victory over IU Indy with 11 event wins inside the Michael H. Jones Natatorium to overcome Eastern Michigan 166.5-133.5. The women's squad advances to 5-1 as the team reaches the final stretch of the 2025-26 campaign.
Saturday afternoon saw four different Cardinals capture two individual event wins against the Eagles.
Payton Kelly added another pair of freestyle victories to her weekend, taking the 200 (1:50.14) and the 500 (4:51.22). Her time in the 500 freestyle stands as the second-fastest in program history.
Anna Keen also brought her weekend total to four event wins, claiming the top placement in the 50 (23.21) and100 (50.65) freestyles.
Ava Butterfield shaved nearly three seconds off her winning mark in yesterday's 100 backstroke, finishing first with a time of 54.71. Butterfield completed her sweep of the backstroke events after claiming first in the 200 (2:00.65) shortly after.
Alyssa Messenger and
Ella Sears followed closely behind in the 200 back, with Messenger placing second (2:03.30) and Sears finishing just half a second later to take third (2:03.80).
Alexa Von Holtz took top prize in the 200 butterfly (2:01.64) as well as the 400 IM (4:25.20). After this weekend, Holtz has doubled her season total to six wins.
Addy Czarnecki found herself in the top spot of the 1000 freestyle (10:07.85), earning her fastest time in the event this season and the third-fastest time in program history.
In the relays, Ball State opened with a victory in the 200 medley relay (1:41.06) and closed with a win in the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.78). The effort in the 200 free was put together by Keen,
Kiley Zoeller,
Haley Sakbun and Kelly.
The Cardinals host Indiana State for one final dual meet on Jan. 30 before entering preparation for the MAC Championships (Feb. 25-28). Start time for competition versus the Sycamores is to be determined.
Miami Swim & Dive Sweeps Senior Day | Results
OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University swimming and diving team hosted Xavier and Kenyon for Senior Day. The final home meet of the season took place in Oxford on Saturday, Jan. 24. The Women defeated Xavier 206.5-82.5. They also defeated Kenyon 175-121.
How it Happened:
- The meet began with the women's 400-yard medley relay. The women's A team finished first. Chrisna Bezuidenhout, Natalie Gilson, Kaylin Herbet and Julia Waechter turned in a combined time of 3:40.70.
- The women's 1000-yard freestyle followed, where Casey Stephens finished in first-place, posting a time of 10:08.39.
- The women's 200-yard freestyle was next. Herbet finished second, turning in a time of 1:50.10. Gracie Gregory was third, turning in a time of 1:51.60
- Bezuidenhout finished first in the women's 100-yard backstroke, posting a time of 54.65. Gilson was third with a time of 56.22.
- The women's 100-yard breaststroke was next where Madison Watschke finished first with a time of 1:03.75.
- Next up was the women's 200-yard butterfly where Ella Ziegert finished third, earning a time of 2:04.70.
- The women's 50-yard freestyle was after that where Waechter finished in second, recording a time of 23.80. Halliday finished third with a time of 23.38.
- After that was the women's 100-yard freestyle, where Herbet was first, turning in a time of 50.60. Ziegert finished third clocking a time of 51.63.
- Piper Prince finished in first-place in the women's 200-yard backstroke, recording a time of 2:00.99. Madison Camden was third with a time of 2:01.57.
- The women's 200-yard breaststroke followed. Watschke earned a time of 2:25.75, which was good for second-place.
- The women's 500-yard freestyle followed. Casey Stephens finished third, recording a time of 5:03.68.
- The women's 100-yard butterfly followed, where Gilson finished first with a time of 54.66. Halliday was second, posting a time of 56.48.
- Gregory came in first in the women's 400-yard IM, recording a time of 4:23.42. Rebekah Gurley finished in second-place, earning a time of 4:26.11.
- The women's 200-yard freestyle relay was next. The women's A team finished second. Camden, Ziegert, Gilson and Halliday posted a combined time of 1:33.65.
- For diving events, Sydney Rice finished first in the women's 1M dive with a score of 289.58. Mia Meinhardt was second with a score of 279.46. Gretchen Osmun finished third, turning in a score of 258.53.
- Meinhardt was first in the women's 3M dive, earning a score of 295.20. Rice finished in second-place, posting a score of 281.25. Nora Kowalski was third with a score of 274.88.
The Miami University women's swimming and diving team hits the road to wrap up the regular season. They will face off with Buffalo on Saturday, Jan. 31. Events will start at 11 a.m.
Akron Finishes Third at Tim Welsh Classic | Results
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Akron swimming and diving team concluded action at the Tim Welsh Classic with a third-place finish.
Notre Dame took first with 1,114.5 points, Illinois finished second with 886, while Akron took third with 824.
Elizabeth Noble led the Blue and Gold in the 1-meter dive with an NCAA Zone Qualifying score of 278.80 and a fourth-place finish. She also led the Zips in the 3-meter dive with an NCAA Zone Qualifying score of 300.40 and a third-place finish.
Elle Couture took fourth in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:06.35, while
Martyna Piesko claimed first in the 200 Back with a time of 1:55.90.
The 100 Free saw
Ada Szwabinska clocked the second fastest time with a finish of 49.65.
Madelyn Bosler led the Blue and Gold in the 200 Breast with a third-place finish and a time of 2:14.76, while
Addy Soehnlen took fourth in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:01.36.
Akron concluded action with a second-place finish in the 400 FR as
Helena Lalkovic,
Callie Parkes, Piesko, and Szwabinska finished with a time of 3:20.42.
Akron returns to the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium for a two-day dual meet with Ohio, starting on Friday, January 30.
UMass Defeat Fairfield on Senior Day | Results
AMHERST, Mass. – The University of Massachusetts swimming and diving team took down Fairfield University in a dual meet at the Joseph R. Rogers Jr., Pool on Saturday afternoon on Senior Day. The women's team won 176-124 over the Stags, while the men's team came out on top 189-110.
Both the Minutewomen and Minutemen combined for 57 top-three finishes on the day, including 24 gold medals.
The Minutewomen totaled 28 top-three finishes on the day to go along, while collecting 11 gold medals.
Junior
Ece Yildirim picked up the silver in the 1,00 freestyle with a personal-best time of 10:18.75. Yildirim's time marked the eighth-best all-time record in program history.
In the 200 freestyle, junior
Beren Cakiroglu sat atop the podium with a season-best time of 1:51.20. Fellow junior
Diya Ackerman-Vallala swam a season-best time of 1:53.95 to finish third.
The 100 backstroke saw sophomore
Maria Grishaeva swim into first with a time of 56.77. Junior
Lindsay Burbage was second in the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:02.97, as freshman
Kate Baranova followed in third with a time of 1:03.68.
Sophomore
Hannah Schoenauer swam into second place with a season-best time of 2:06.43 in the 200 butterfly. Sophomore
Courtney Tedesco touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle with a personal-best time of 23.39, which marked the sixth-best time in program history.
The Minutewomen swept the podium in the 100 freestyle, as Cakiroglu took first with a time of 51.32, Tedesco placed second with a time of 51.71 and sophomore
Karinne Everly was third with a time of 52.34. Grishaeva grabbed the gold for the second time on the afternoon in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:01.68, marking a personal-best and the third-best mark in program history. Junior
Olga Stoura took third in the event with a time of 2:06.42.
In the 200 breaststroke, Burbage secured the gold with a season-best time of 2:18.42 , as sophomore Kendal Gilbert placed second with a personal-best time of 2:19.15. marking the seventh-best time in program history. Schoenauer finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:03.70.
Everly was second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.24. Grishaeva earned her third gold medal of the day with a time of 2:04.33 in the 200 individual medley, as Ackerman-Vallala took the silver with a time of 2:05.09. Ackerman-Vallala's time moved her sixth in the all-time program records.
In the relays, the 200 medley relay team of Grishaeva, Baranova, Everly and Tedesco combined for a time of 1:44.03 to swim into first. Cakiroglu, Burbage, Schoenauer and Ackerman-Vallala took third in the event with a time of 1:45.67.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Tedesco, Schoenauer, Everly and Cakiroglu claimed first with a time of 3:27.31, while the team consisting of Baranova, Stoura, Burbage and Ackerman-Vallala took third in the event with a time of 3:33.63.
The Minutewomen swept the podium in the three-meter dive, as sophomore
Danielle Guerin placed first with a personal-best score of 284.48. Seniors
Salem Howes (255.15) and
Shreeya Sinha (235.20) took second and third, respectively, in the event.
Guerin grabbed the gold in the one-meter dive with a total of 279.75, while Howes earned the silver with a score of 255.08.
Both the men's and women's swim team travel to Bronx, New York, to take on Fordham on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 12 p.m., as the swimmer's close out the regular season before conference championships.
