MUNCIE, Ind. –
The Ball State women's swimming and diving program claimed 13 event wins, on top of seven top-three finishes versus IU Indy inside the Lewellen Aquatic Center Friday evening, topping the Jaguars 199-95.

Anna Keen and Payton Kelly once again earned two individual event wins each. Keen took top placement in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.39) and 100 butterfly (56.92), while Payton Kelly took both the 50 (23.25) and 100 (52.01) freestyles. After this evening, Kelly and Keen pace the Cardinals with 15 and 11 individual wins on the season.

The duo also contributed to the winning 400 medley relay team, joining Addie Beasley and Reagan Graves to combine for a time of (3:51.00). Ball State has claimed a total of 16 relay wins thus far this season.

Graves and Beasley also saw individual success versus the Jaguars, with Graves placing first in the 200 butterfly (2:05.95) and Beasley taking the 500-meter freestyle (5:13.51).

McKenna Pottiger claimed her second straight win in the 1000 freestyle (10:23.40), swimming her fastest time in the event this year.

Ava Butterfield and Alyssa Messenger aided in helping the women's squad sweep the backstrokes, as Butterfield finished first in the 100 (57.09) and Messenger claimed the 200 (2:05.20).

Ball State completed a sweep of the freestyle and breaststroke events after Alexa Von Holtz saw a top placement in the 200 freestyle (1:55.10), and McDonald earned first in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.96).

On the boards, Ella Penny picked up her first win of the season, taking first on the 1-meter (237.23). Hannah Justice earned season-high scores of 215.93 on the 1-meter and 238.50 on the 3-meter. Penny and Pavich also saw season-high scores on the 3-meter, scoring 201.30 and 180.38, respectively.

The women are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a trip to Ypsilanti, Mich., to battle Eastern Michigan at 1 p.m. ET.


Zips Place Third After First Day of Tim Welsh Classic | Morning Results | Evening Results  
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - 
Akron turned in a strong showing Friday night at the Tim Welsh Classic to sit third overall after the opening session.

After the first day of competition, Akron totaled 554 points, trailing Notre Dame and Illinois.

The Zips opened the meet with a runner-up finish in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay, as the quartet of Callie Parkes, Brie Trumpower, Hannah Trainer and Ada Szwabinska touched in 1:31.01. Akron also added multiple scoring relays later in the session, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 400 medley relay (3:41.07).

Individually, Akron made its biggest impact in the sprints. Szwabinska won the women's 50 freestyle in 22.29, while Parkes finished second in 22.85 to give the Zips the top two spots in the event. Martyna Piesko and Trainer also scored in the final.

Akron placed several swimmers in the points in the women's 500 freestyle, led by Helena Lalkovic's sixth-place finish in 4:57.13. Elle Couture followed closely in seventh, with Cora SpetzMaggie Patterson and Ava Withey also contributing scoring swims.

In the women's 200 individual medley, Avery Knight led Akron with an eighth-place finish.

Akron dominated the top of the women's 200 freestyle, finishing first and second behind Helena Lalkovic's winning time of 1:47.83 and Szwabinska's 1:49.67. The Zips placed seven swimmers in the scoring positions, with Maggie PattersonElle CoutureBrienne Trumpower and Cora Spetz all contributing points.

On the backstroke side, Akron swept the top three spots in the women's 100 backstroke. Piesko won the event in 53.48, followed closely by Avery Knight (54.13) and Cronin (54.43).

Efthymia Mazaraki placed fifth in the women's 100 breaststroke to keep Akron in the scoring mix.

Akron's relay depth was on display again in the women's 800 freestyle relay, where the top Zips quartet of Couture, Lalkovic, Patterson and Szwabinska finished fourth in 7:23.58.
