ROCHESTER, Mich. — The Miami University swimming and diving team hit the road to start the 2026 calendar year strong at Oakland University on Friday, Jan. 9. After day one, the RedHawk women are leading against both Oakland and Dennison with identical scores of 124-62.
How it Happened:
- The RedHawks' first meet of the 2026 calendar year kicked off with the women's 200-yard medley, where the women's A team finished first. Ella Ziegert, Madison Watschke, Natalie Gilson and Jenna Halliday turned in a combined time of 1:42.08.
- Next was the women's 400-yard IM, where Gracie Gregory earned a time of 4:22.85, good for second place.
- Herbet finished first in the women's 200-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 1:48.78. Waechter finished in third place with a time of 1:51.31.
- The women's 100-yard butterfly followed, as Ziegert came in first by earning a time of 55.66. Gilson was second, turning in a time of 56.03.
- After that came the women's 100-yard breaststroke, where Gilson was third, clocking a time of 1:04.00.
- Next was the women's 50-yard freestyle, where Herbet finished first with a time of 22.93. Waechter was third, earning a time of 23.52.
- Audrey Conley was first in the women's 500-yard freestyle, earning a time of 4:57.42. Casey Stephens was right behind her in second, recording a time of 4:58.21.
- The women's 100-yard backstroke followed, where Ziegert finished second, recording a time of 54.81.
- The women's 400-yard freestyle relay was next, where the women's A team finished first. Gracie Gregory, Waechter, Halliday and Herbet turned in a combined time of 3:22.01.
- For diving events, Mia Meinhardt earned a first place finish in the women's 1M dive, posting a score of 266.80. Sydney Rice finished second with a score of 272.20. Gretchen Osmun was third, earning a score of 245.30.
UP NEXT: The Miami swimming and diving team will hit the pool again for day two of the meet against Oakland and Denison Saturday, Jan. 10. Events will begin at 10 a.m.
