Box Score
Mount Pleasant, Mich. — Central Michigan's field hockey team beat Mercyhurst Sunday 2-1, completing a two-game sweep over the Lakers at Cristy Freese Field, outscoring them on the weekend 6-1.
The weekend's back-to-back wins at home mark the first time the Chippewas achieved the feat since 2019's opening weekend when CMU defeated Colgate 4-1 (Aug. 30) and Saint Louis 3-0 (Sept. 2).
Senior Mallory Camryn scored both Chippewa goals, each unassisted. Graduate student Ashley Cogger stood tall in net, facing seven Lakers shots, four landing on target to collect three saves.
Camryn put the Chippewas on the board in the 11th minute, after being rewarded with a penalty stroke. Camryn swept it low between the legs of Laker's keeper Louise Pert, for her fifth goal of the season.
The Chippewa offense added five additional shots and drew four penalty corners through the first 15. On the other side of the field, CMU's defense held Mercyhurst to no shots or corners.
In the 19th minute Mercyhurst was able to find the board, squeezing a shot past Cogger, the only one she would allow over the two-game set.
The Chippewa offense maintained pressure in the Lakers' end to wrap up the first half, putting up seven shots, six landing on goal.
After a quiet third, highlighted by unsuccessful offensive pushes by both teams, Camryn was able to put away the game winner in the 47th minute. Set up by a rebound off a penalty corner, Camryn was able to collect a loose ball down low, flip her stick, and lift a backhanded shot over the Lakers keeper.
The defense held strong in the fourth, giving up no shots, and helped maintain pressure in the Chippewas offensive zone.
As a team CMU put up 24 shots, nine landing on goal, and generated 11 penalty corners.
With four points on the day Camryn now sits six points away from 100 on her career. She would be the fifth Chippewa to reach the mark, and the first since Kelly Jordan in 2008.
Central Michigan will head to Colgate Friday, Sept. 12, looking for three victories in a row.

Box Score
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senior captains Skyler Brown and Alice Roeper both recorded two goals and an assist in James Madison field hockey's convincing 4-1 win at American on Sunday afternoon at the Jacobs Complex.
The Dukes (3-2) trailed 1-0 just 1:45 minutes into the contest but locked in defensively to hold the Eagles (1-2) to three shots for the remainder of regulation.
Roeper bookended JMU's four-goal outing for the fourth multi-goal game of her career. Meanwhile, Brown registered her first brace and a career-high five points. Brynna Hill aided the Dukes' attack with her fourth assist of the season. Netminder Molly Schreiner faced only two shots on frame, making one save in the win.
Jordan Reicher scored the Eagles' lone goal off an assist from Sophie Willemse. Goalkeeper Pauline Gineste made eight stops, with seven saves in the second half.
The Eagles gained possession in JMU territory, where Reicher found Willemse on the right post for the opening goal at the 13:15 mark of the first.
With under two minutes remaining in the second quarter, following a yellow card on Willemse, Brown connected with Roeper off a reset, whose shot trickled through the American defense to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the break.
Late in the third, the Dukes cashed in on a penalty corner when Brown collected a rebound off a Puck Jansen shot and sent it over the American goalkeeper for the 2-1 advantage.
Brown scored on yet another corner, this time misdirecting a shot from Roeper in front to make it 3-1 at the 11:16 mark of the final frame.
Less than three minutes later, on a rush in the circle, Molier passed back to Hill, who dished to Roeper on the back pipe for the easy tap-in to build a commanding 4-1 JMU lead.
The Dukes held an advantage in shots (17-5), shots on goal (12-2) and penalty corners (4-3).
Brown and Roeper's goals marked the first time JMU has had multiple players score multiple goals in the same game since Tori Carawan (4), Mia Julian (4) and Roeper (2) all found the back of the net in a 14-0 win versus Queens (N.C.) on Nov. 4, 2023.
Additionally, Brown is the first Duke to be credited with a game-winning goal in consecutive games since last season when Roeper was the hero against Central Michigan (Sept. 27) and Queens (N.C.) (Sept. 29).
Roeper's two-goal game marked her first multi-goal performance since posting two scores versus No. 18 Liberty on Oct. 29, 2024.
Through five games, Hill has matched her assist total from the 2024 campaign with four.
JMU is set for its first home game of the 2025 season when the Dukes welcome Towson to Harrisonburg on Friday, Sept. 12. Game time at the JMU Field Hockey Complex is slated for 5 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
