Western Michigan 3, Tennessee Tech 0 | Box Score
GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Western Michigan volleyball team wrapped up its non-conference schedule by earning a straight-set victory (25-20, 25-13, 25-23) over Tennessee Tech on Saturday afternoon at the Kendall's Battle at the Capital Credit Union Classic.

Following the match, WMU setter Leah Richmond and libero Elana Erickson were named to the event's All-Tournament Team. Richmond had a double-double in all three contests, totaling 111 assists (10.09/set) and 45 digs (4.09/set), while also chipping in four blocks and three service aces. Erickson collected 74 digs (6.73/set) and went a perfect 26-for-26 in serve receive for the weekend.
 
On Saturday, Richmond recorded 27 assists and 14 digs for her fourth consecutive double-double. Keely Culler led the attack with nine kills, while Annalise Patchett was right behind with eight.
 
Erickson paced the three Broncos in double-digit digs with 17. Richmond totaled 14 and Carley Piercefield chipped in 10.
 
The first set was tight most of the way. Holding a 16-15 edge, Western Michigan tallied three straight points to boost its cushion to 19-15. At 20-17, a 4-1 spurt got the Broncos to set point, and Molly Brown then got the decisive kill to give WMU the first frame.
 
The Broncos rattled off five consecutive points to get out to a 7-2 start in the second. At 16-12, Western Michigan then picked up another six in a row to ignite a 9-1 set-closing surge to take a 2-0 match lead into the break.
 
In the third, the Brown and Gold used an 8-1 charge to wipe out an early Tennessee Tech advantage and grab a 13-10 lead. After the Golden Eagles worked it back to 13-12, Western Michigan countered with four of the next five to increase its cushion to 17-13. A five-point response put TTU ahead, 18-17. At 20-19, the Broncos used a 5-1 run to reach match point, and held on from there for the sweep.
 
Western Michigan returns to University Arena next Thursday and Friday, Sept. 25-26, to begin its Mid-American Conference schedule against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. First up is EMU on Thursday at 6 pm.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. –
The Toledo women's volleyball team closed out its non-conference campaign on Saturday with 3-0 victories over Mercyhurst and the host Mastodons at the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational. The Rockets have now won nine straight sets to improve their overall record to 9-3.

Senior Kelsey Smith earned tournament MVP honors, while senior Sophie Catalano and freshman Jessica Costlow were named to the all-tournament team.

Toledo recorded a season-high .422 attack percentage in its afternoon sweep over the Lakers, including a .462 mark in the first set and a .448 mark in the second. UT limited Mercyhurst to a -.022 clip.

Three Rockets tallied over .500 hitting percentages on ten-plus attempts. Sophomore Olivia Heitkamp had a team-high eight kills with a .500 clip, while Costlow and redshirt sophomore Kayla Ozanich each added seven kills with .583 and.538 percentages, respectively. Sophomore Grace Freiberger totaled 10 digs and five assists, while Smith tallied 23 assists and five kills. Junior Avery Adamski delivered a team-best three aces.

In Toledo's evening match against Purdue Fort Wayne, Costlow led the way with a .417 hitting mark. Toledo again excelled defensively and held the Mastodons to just a .107 hitting percentage. Costlow and Heitkamp led the way with 11 kills each, while Smith collected a team-high 34 assists. Freiberger tied her career best with a team-high four service aces.

Toledo opens MAC play, hosting Kent State and Ohio on Thursday, Sept. 25 and Friday, Sept. 26. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. from Savage Arena, with coverage on ESPN+ for both matches.


Bowling Green 3, Binghamton 0 | Box Score
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of their 2025 schedule on Saturday (Sept. 20) with a 3-0 sweep over Binghamton. The first set consisted of 16 ties and seven lead changes in a close 25-23 score. However, the Falcons took over from there with just five ties and no lead changes in the second and third sets combined. As a team, Bowling Green hit a season-best .314 on their way to the win, remaining undefeated on Saturdays this season. BGSU ends the non-conference schedule with a 6-6 record entering MAC play next week.

For the Falcons, Avery Hobson topped the stat sheet with a team-leading 19 kills, a .457 hitting percentage and a team-leading and season-high three aces. She was followed closely by Jessica Andrews with 10 kills and a .529 hitting percentage. Amanda Otten set the efficient attack with 38 assists while Kendall Williams topped the block category with six and Sydnie Hernandez led the team in digs with 10.

Falcon Stat Facts
  • As a team, the Falcons hit a season-best .314 opposed to Binghamton's .209 mark. BGSU is now 6-0 when logging a hitting percentage higher than their opponent. 
  • Avery Hobson just missed what would have been her second 20-kill match of the season, finishing with a team-high 19 kills in the three-set match. Hobson added an impressive .457 hitting percentage, logging the 19 kills on 35 attacks with just three errors. Hobson added a team-leading and season-high three aces to her stat line as well.
  • Jessica Andrews followed Hobson with a season-high 10 kills and a .529 hitting percentage, landing the 10 kills on just 17 attacks with a lone error. 
  • Amanda Otten set the efficient Bowling Green attack with 38 assists while finishing second on the team in digs with seven. Otten filled the stat sheet with three kills, an ace and a block. 
  • Kendall Williams paced the Bowling Green block with six block assists. She also matched her career-high for kills with five, doing so on just eight attacks, resulting in a season-best .375 hitting percentage after only two errors. 
  • Helen Wilford was perfect on the attack, getting all five of her attack attempts to land for kills. She added two blocks and a dig in the winning effort. 
  • Sydnie Hernandez topped the stat sheet for the Falcons in digs with 10 while adding two assists and an ace. 
  • Anastasija Bozic recorded a career-high six digs for Bowling Green while adding her first collegiate assist as well. 
  • Bowling Green is now 3-0 this season when playing on Saturday and 2-0 when hitting above .300.
  • With the win, the Falcons moved to 6-6 on the season, entering MAC play with a .500 record. BGSU has been either a game above or below .500 entering MAC play each of the last three seasons. 
  • The win marks the third all-time for BGSU against Binghamton, keeping Bowling Green a perfect 3-0 all-time against the Bearcats. 
  • The win will go down as the first road sweep of the season for the Falcons after picking up their first home sweep earlier this week against Oakland on Wednesday (Sept. 17).

Miami 3, Northern Kentucky 2 | Box Score
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky.— The Miami University volleyball team (6-6) secured a five-set victory (26-24, 17-25, 25-15, 23-25,15-12) over Northern Kentucky (4-7) on Saturday evening at Regents Hall. Two RedHawks finished with double-digit kills, as Lindy Radaszewski led all players with a career-high 19 (.531 hit percentage) and Molly Creech added 10. Defensively, Anna McCLure recorded 20 digs and Gentry Warrick totaled six blocks to lead Miami.

NOTES:
  • Hicks had a season-best in both assists (30) and service aces (three).
  • Radaszewski finished second on the team with two service aces on the night.
