Camryn, Eisenga, van Herwijnen Collect Week 3 Field Hockey Awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced its Week 3 Field Hockey Award Winners, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Central Michigan senior forward Mallory Camryn earned Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Massachusetts defender/back Neva Eisenga took home Defensive Player of the Week. Massachusetts senior Myrte van Herwijnen earned her third consecutive Goalkeeper of the Week award of the season to round out the latest batch of weekly accolades.

Senior forward Mallory Camryn led Central Michigan to its second straight weekend sweep, extending the Chippewas’ win streak to four games — their longest since 2009. Camryn recorded six points on three goals to eclipse 100 career points. She put in the game-winner in Friday’s 2-1 victory over Colgate, breaking the tie with just over two minutes left in regulation. In Saturday’s neutral-site matchup against LIU, Camryn struck twice, scoring CMU’s third and seventh goals in a 9-6 win. Camryn leads the MAC with nine goals and is second in the conference in points with 19.

Junior Neva Eisenga once again made her presence felt on both ends of the pitch, recording two assists while helping the Massachusetts defense in a pair of strong performances against no. 4 Boston College and Dartmouth. Eisenga assisted Emily Barrett's opening goal again BC, as the Minutewomen allowed just one goal en route to a 2-1 (3-1) shootout victory. The Rotterdam, The Netherlands native also assisted the equalizer in Massachusetts 3-2 come from behind win over ivy league foe Dartmouth.
 
MAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week

Senior goalkeeper Myrte van Herwijnen continued to lead the defensive effort for the Minutewomen, anchoring them to a 2-1 (3-1) win over no. 4 Boston College. Van Herwijnen recorded eight saves in the contest, including five in the fourth quarter and overtime. The Huizen, The Netherlands native stopped three penalty shootout attempts for the second time in three games, proving to be a dominant force with the game on the line.
