Northern Illinois 3, IU Indy 2 | Box Score
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Winning a five-set battle, the Northern Illinois University Huskies volleyball team improved to 7-2 on the season as they took down IU Indianapolis Jaguars (4-5) in the final match of the IU Indianapolis Hampton Inn Invitational.
 
The Huskies posted set scores of 25-23 and 25-21 in the first two sets before dropping sets three and four by scores of 20-25 and 21-25. The Huskies rallied in the fifth set for a 15-11 victory.
 
Jordyn Tynsky recorded four of the Huskies 11 service aces, setting a new career-best.
 
Emma McCartney and Delaney Steers were named to the All-Tournament team.
  
The Huskies return to action on September 25 as they start Mid-American Conference action. NIU will take on Central Michigan on September 25 at 6 p.m with live coverage on ESPN+. 


Eastern Michigan 3, Oakland 1 | Box Score
ROCHESTER, Mich. – Ava Siefke recorded her second consecutive match with a double-double, landing 14 kills with 13 digs as she led the Eastern Michigan University volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Oakland University in the Eagles' final game of the Golden Grizzlies Invitational Saturday, Sept. 13, inside the OU Credit Union O'Rena.
 
Eastern's win marked its seventh of the season as it's off to it's first 7-3 start since 2018, the last time Eastern won the MAC Tournament.
 
Hatteras Welker was a force defensively with eight blocks in the match while Surabhi Srinivasan ed the match with 16 digs.
 
Both Ashlynn Belcher and Ella Voorhees dished 20 assists. AshleeKay Christensen secured her third straight double-digit kills outing as she recorded 12 and tied a career best with five digs.
 
Match Notes:
» Eastern's record improved to 7-3 (0-0 MAC) while Oakland's dropped to 0-9 (0-0 Horizon).
» Eastern had more kills (55-42), assists (46-36), digs (62-55), and blocks (11-4) than the Golden Grizzlies while out-hitting them, .223-.117.
» Eastern out-hit its foe (.223 - .117) for the seventh time this season, producing a 7-0 record when doing so. EMU is 21-4 overall under Head Coach Kevin Foeman when out-hitting its opponent.
» EMU tallied more kills than its opponent for the eighth time, resulting in a 7-1 record in 2025, and 17-3 mark under Foeman.
»  After the win, EMU is 4-1 this season when splitting the first two sets and 13-5 under Foeman.
»  Siefke posted her second consecutive double-double and fifth of the season with 14 kills and 13 digs in the win. The occasion marks her second time this season with consecutive double-doubles. Eastern is 4-1 this season when she records a double-double. The performance continued her 10-game double-digit kill streak, the longest in her career. Her 13 digs are her fifth time with at least 10 in a match this season.
» Christensen totaled 12 kills for her sixth double-digit outing of the season and third consecutive. She also tied a career best with five digs.
» Siefke's .406 hitting percentage marks the third time of her career going over .400. Eastern is 3-0 when she hits over .400. She also landed a season-high three aces.
» Voorhees recorded season-bests with 20 assists and nine digs. The performance was her 19th  with at least 20 dimes. It also marked her first time leading the team in the category this season.
» Belcher joined Voorhees, also posting 20 assists, leading the team for the 10th time this year. The game was just her second of the season with 20 assists or less as she has gone over 30 in 8/10 matches.
» Srinivasan grabbed her eighth 10+ digs performance of the season as she went down for a match-high 16. Srinivasan's eight games with at least 10 digs mark a season-long career-high.
» Welker led the match with eight blocks, marking her third time with at least eight blocks this season. EMU is 3-0 when she posts 8-0 more blocks as her total ties for the third-most in a four-set match in the conference. She also added seven kills off a .385 clip. It is her second consecutive match hitting over .300 with at least six kills.

Miami 3, Duquesne 2 | Box Score
OXFORD, Ohio— The Miami University volleyball team (5-5) took down Duquesne (7-2) in five sets (25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 15-8) to become tournament champions at the Best Western Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Lauren Coyne was named the Best Western Invitational tournament MVP, and Molly Creech was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Bowling Green 3, Loyola Chicago 1 | Box Score
CHICAGO, Ill. – The Bowling Green State University volleyball team wrapped up the Loyola Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 13) against host Loyola Chicago. The Falcons were able to claim 3-1 win behind an efficient attack that hit a season-best .312. Marin Dunaway led the way with 19 kills, followed by Avery Hobson (18) and Lauryn Hovey (15) while Amanda Otten set the attack with a season-high 52 assists. The win for the Falcons marks their fourth of the season with all four coming in four sets. Bowling Green will now return home for the first time this year during the regular season, hosting Oakland on Wednesday (Sept. 17) for a 6 p.m. first serve.

Falcon Stat Facts:
  • As a team, the Falcons hit a season-best .312 for the match. Marin Dunaway topped the stat sheet, landing a team-high 19 kills in just her second career match. Dunaway maintained a .424 hitting percentage in the process with the 19 kills coming on 33 attacks with just five errors.
  • Avery Hobson followed with 18 kills for the Orange and Brown while adding eight digs, nearly getting a double-double. 
  • Lauryn Hovey added to the attack with 15 kills while adding seven digs, six blocks, four aces and three assists to her stat line with new season-highs in blocks, aces and assists. For blocks, Hovey is up to 277 block assists for her career, bumping her up to sixth on the program's Rally Scoring List. 
  • Jessica Andrews tied for the team-lead in blocks with six. The mark gives her 324 block assists in the Orange and Brown. The total pushes Andrews up to fourth on the Rally Scoring Era list and eighth on the all-time list, both for Career Block Assists.
  • Amanda Otten set the attack for the Falcons with a season-high 52 assists. She set the attack to a .312 mark while adding a season-high seven kills herself to go along with five digs and two blocks. 
  • With the win, all four of BGSU's wins this season have come in four sets. The win also marks the first true road win for the Falcons this year after the first three were all neutral site matches. The Falcons are also 4-0 when logging a hitting percentage better than their opponent and 2-0 when playing on Saturday. 
Up Next: Bowling Green will return home to the Stroh Center on Wednesday (Sept. 17) to host Oakland in the home opener with a 6 p.m. first serve. BGSU will quickly turn around and be back on the road, taking on Michigan State on Friday (Sept. 19) and Binghamton on Saturday (Sept. 20), both in East Lansing.


Ball State 3, Milwaukee 0 | Box Score
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - - The Ball State women's volleyball team hit a blistering .421 (46-6-95) to improve to 2-0 in the Marquette Tournament with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-15) sweep of Milwaukee Saturday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center.

The mark ties as the 14th-best team attack percentage in a match in program history and is the Cardinals' (4-4) best effort since hitting .423 (50-9-97) in a sweep of Western Michigan on Nov. 15, 2024.

The effort was quarterbacked by Ball State's setter pair of junior Lindsey Green and freshman Reese Axnesswho dished out 23 and 12 assists, respectively. Green also finished the match with three kills, three blocks and a service ace, her team-leading 11th ace of the season.

On the offensive front, graduate outside Noelle VanOort led all players with 14 kills and hit an impressive .591 (14-1-22) against the Panthers (0-8). Sophomore outside Carson Tyler was second on the list with 12 kills and a .344 (12-1-32) rate of success, followed by junior middle Gwen Crull with eight kills and a .667 (8-0-12) hitting mark.

Tyler also collected a match-high 16 digs for her fifth double-double of the season, while earning a perfect reception percentage after leading the Cardinals with 19 attempts. Ball State's backcourt efforts also saw sophomore libero Sophie Ledbetter collect nine digs and sophomore defensive specialist Elizabeth Tabelingtally seven.

At the net, Crull chipped in a match-best four total blocks, followed by Green's three. Overall, the Cardinals held a 7.0 to 2.0 advantage in total blocks. The effort helped Ball State limit the Milwaukee offense to a .151 (29-15-93) attack percentage.

On the other side of the net, Josie Noble led the Panthers with nine kills, while Natalie Schmitz chipped in eight. Kara Erdmann was credited with a team-high 10 digs.

The Ball State women's volleyball team closes play in the Marquette Tournament Sunday afternoon with a 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT first serve against James Madison.


Buffalo 3, Niagara 0 | Box Score
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bulls volleyball team (3-3, 0-0 MAC) swept their Big 4 rival Niagara (0-8, 0-0 MAAC) on Saturday evening, 25-18, 15-23, 15-21.

The Bulls improved to 3-3 on the season as the Purple Eagles remain winless.

Buffalo's Manoela Forlin and Emma Converse led the team with 12 kills apiece. Forlin has now had at least 10 kills in every match this season. Converse had a career night as she set career high marks in kills, digs (9) and solo blocks (1).

Maddie Mitchell put up 23 assists as Ashley Ballou added 13 of her own, a career high.

Emerson Matthews led the Bulls with a .389 hitting percentage as she finished with eight kills on 18 attempts. Sydney Bell chipped in seven kills of her own.

Keira Kleidon finished with 12 digs.

Buffalo his .254 in the match and held Niagara to .174. The Bulls tallied 51 kills to the Purple Eagles' 36.

UP NEXT: The Bulls will host Cornell tomorrow at 1 p.m.
