Trio Named ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans

CLEVELAND, Ohio - A trio of Mid-American Conference baseball student-athletes were named All-Americans by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) as Ball State shortstop Dylan Grego, Kent State third baseman Hayden Jatczak and Miami right-handed pitcher Cooper Katskee all landed on the Third Team.

The 25th All-America selection in Cardinals' baseball history, Grego is Ball State's first All-American since starting pitcher Tyler Schweitzer was named a second-team honoree in 2022.

Named first-team all-league in the Mid-American Conference and an ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region pick earlier this week, Grego was also named to the MAC's All-Defensive Team and is a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, presented to the nation's top shortstop.

Grego's 89 hits on the year led the MAC, and were the third-most in a season in Ball State baseball history. The junior out of Kansas City, Mo., concluded the campaign with a .356 batting average, 1.006 OPS, 14 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 55 RBI, 57 runs scored and 14 stolen bases while starting in every game. Grego paced MAC shortstops in hits, batting average, runs scored, home runs, RBI and total bases while ranking third overall in the conference in batting average and fourth in total bases.

The third Golden Flash named an All-American by the organization in the past decade, Jatczak is the first to be honored at the third base position since Mike Gulan in 1992.

Jatczak finished his only season at the NCAA Division I level as the national co-leader in doubles with 28 while also ranking in the top-10 in runs scored (79), RBIs (81) and slugging percentage (.770). He posted a stellar .376 batting average while totaling 80 hits, 16 home runs, four triples and 10 stolen bases.

The 2025 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year was recently invited to play for the Williamsport Crosscutters as part of the MLB Draft League.

Katskee is the first RedHawks to be named an All-American since Jonathan Brand in 2022.

Katskee, a native of Greenwood Village, Colo., made 10 starts and 16 total appearances for the RedHawks during the 2025 season. The redshirt sophomore finished the season tied for the fourth-most wins across Division I baseball with an 11-2 record. Katskee pitched in 84.2 innings and recorded a 3.08 ERA. He led the charge against opponents in the batter's box this season, holding them to a .196 batting average and adding 70 strikeouts en route to winning MAC Pitcher of the Year.
