Eight Student-Athletes Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The NFCA announced its 2025 Division I Softball All-Region Teams on Thursday afternoon, featuring eight total student-athletes from Mid-American Conference teams. Ball State’s McKayla Timmons and Ella Whitney each earned regional honors, while Miami’s Shelby Kunkel, Chloe Parks, and Madilyn Reeves all represented the RedHawks. Danielle Stewart of Northern Illinois also garnered the NFCA regional nod, while Ohio’s Brenna Farmer and Skipp Miller rounded out the MAC selections.

Ball State’s McKayla Timmons is only the second player in program history to be a three-time all-region honoree, joining Jenny Gilbert who earned first team honors in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The 2025 MAC Player of the Year and first-ever MAC Defensive Player of the Year, Timmons finished the season ranked first in the Mid-American Conference and 32nd nationally with a .434 batting average.

In addition to the strong batting average, Timmons boasted the nation's third-best on base percentage at .615 after collecting 59 hits and tying for seventh nationally with 48 walks and tying for 15th nationally in times hit by a pitch at 15. Of her 59 hits, 16 were home runs, 12 were doubles and two were triples, helping her rank 14th nationally with a .904 slugging percentage.

The effort at the plate helped her tie for 66th nationally with a league-leading 66 RBI and tie for 30th among all NCAA Division I players with 57 runs scored. She was also one of the nation's top base stealing threats, ranking 81st nationally with 21 stolen bases.

On the defensive end, Timmons helped the Cardinals rank 13th nationally with just 20 stolen bases allowed. The effort was aided by her throwing out an additional 10 runners attempting to steal. She also owned a .995 fielding percentage with just one error in 192 chances, while also collecting a pair of pickoffs.

A two-way player for the Cardinals, Ella Whitney finished the season tied for 25th nationally with 20 pitching victories, becoming just the seventh pitcher in program history to reach 20 wins in a single season. She also led all MAC pitchers with a .231 average against, while ranking second in the league with a 2.84 ERA.

A two-time MAC Pitcher of the Week selection, Whitney also led the league with a 1.23 WHIP, allowing just 156 hits and 56 walks over her 172.2 innings of work. She picked up a pair of complete game shutouts over the course of the season, highlighted by a shutout victory over MAC regular season and tournament champion Miami on April 12. She also combined for another shutout and collected 83 strikeouts on the year.

At the plate, Whitney ranked second in the MAC and 101st nationally with 50 RBI. She registered a .299 average on the year, ranking second on the squad with 10 home runs and third on the team with 11 doubles. She was also credited with Ball State's first triple of the season.

Whitney was also third among Ball State's regular starters in slugging percentage (.573) and fourth in one base percentage (.389). Overall, Whitney started 27 games at pitcher, 16 as the designated player and seven at first base. She also ranked among Ball State's top fielders with a .991 fielding percentage, committing just one error in 110 chances.

Chloe Parks, a two-time All-Region honoree, earning second-team accolades back in 2022. The senior has played in all 59 games this season, recording career-bests in batting average (.379), hits (74), runs (39), doubles (21) and RBI (47). She has hits in 47 of 59 games this year and had a career-high five RBI versus Ball State during the MAC Tournament.
 
Shelby Kunkel had a career year in 2025, posting career-bests in batting average (.376), runs (56), hits (71), doubles (13), home runs (10) and RBI (39). She started all 59 games and leads the team with 20 stolen bases. She had a career-high two home runs and six RBI versus Arizona State and had multiple RBI nine different times this past season. 
Madilyn Reeves currently leads the NCAA in innings pitched (243.2) and is second in complete games (25), 13th in strikeouts (220) and ninth in wins (23). She threw a complete game in the MAC Championship title game versus Ohio and surrendered two or fewer runs in 22 or her 42 appearances this season.

Skipp Miller threw two no-hitters this season. The first came on March 9 against Longwood where she three seven no-hit innings, while walking one and striking out seven. Her second of the season came on April 29 against Ball State, Miller tossed her second no-hitter of the season, a 2-0 victory where Miller pitched seven innings with no hits or runs, while walking one and striking out five.

This is the first time Miller has earned a spot on an All-Region team. Miller (Bradford, Ohio) finished the season with a 2.68 ERA and a 19-8 record. Overall, Miller saw action in 36 games, while making 24 starts with 17 complete games, seven shutouts, two saves and two no-hitters. She allowed 77 runs, 65 earned, while walking 65 and striking out 124 in 169.2 innings pitched. 

During MAC play, Miller lead the MAC with a 1.54 ERA, a 10-4 record and one save. She appeared in 18 games, making 13 starts while tossing 13 complete games, four shutouts and a no-hitter. Miller allowed 29 runs, 21 earned on 84 hits, while walking 29 and striking out 73 in 95.1 innings pitched, while opponents are hitting .237 against her. 

Miller was named the 2025 Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Year, First Team All-MAC, was a three-time MAC Pitcher of the Week and was named to the MAC All-Tournament Team. 

This is Brenna Farmer's (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) first selection to an All-Region Team. Farmer finished the season leading Ohio with a .392 batting average, with 69 hits, 16 doubles, three home runs, 25 runs scored and 45 RBI. She also recorded a .996 OPS, .534 slugging percentage and a .462 on base percentage. She drew 27 walks, had six sacrifice flies and was 3-for-3 in stolen bases. In the field, Farmer recorded a .991 fielding percentage at first base with 413 putouts, nine assists and four errors. She also helped turn seven double plays. 

In MAC Play, Farmer showed her poise at the plate and on the defensive side as well. Farmer is hitting a team-leading .395 with 30 hits in 76 at-bats. She had seven doubles, two home runs and 22 RBI, leading the Bobcats in that category in MAC play. Farmer also scored 15 runs and recorded a .566 slugging percentage as well as a 1.092 OPS. She drew 15 walks, had four sacrifice flies and a .479 on-base percentage. In the field, Farmer registered four assists, 169 putouts and committed only four errors for a .974 fielding percentage.

Farmer was named First Team All-MAC and was the MAC Player of the Week the first week of the season. Farmer also earned a spot on the MAC All-Tournament Team after hitting .750 with nine hits in 12 at bats, with three doubles, a home run, two doubles and four runs scored. She drew three walks, had a 1.250 slugging percentage, .800 on base percentage and a 2.05 OPS. In the field she did not commit an error and recorded two assists.
