AKRON
The Akron swimming and diving team maintained its first-place status after the second day of the CSCAA National Invitational Championships on Friday, March 14.
The Zips stayed in first with 442 points. Kentucky placed second with 435 points and Rice rounded out the top three with 208 points.
Dominka Kossakowska finished third in the 200-yard free prelims with a time of 1:47.02.
Maddy Gatrall placed second in the 100-yard back prelims with a time of 54.17 while Rebecca Reid finished in the top 10 with an eighth-place finish and a time of 54.52.
The 100-yard breast featured Claire Cox placing seventh with a time of 1:01.76 while Felecia Klintemar took second in the 100-yard fly prelims with a time of 53.34. Aislin Holder joined Klintemar in the top 10 after placing sixth with a time of 53.77.
Elizabeth Noble led the Zips in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 207.25 and a 17th-place finish in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 253.60.
The Zips took first in the 200-yard Medley Relay after Gatrall (24.88), Cox (27.30), Addy Soehnlen (24.44) and Ada Szwabinska (21.78) finished with a time of 1:38.40.
In the 100-yard fly, Akron took gold and silver after Klintemar posted the top time of 52.64 and Holder finished with a time of 52.76.
Kossakowska led the Zips in the 200-yard free finals with a fourth-place finish and a time of 1:47.60. Cox posted the fastest time for the Zips in the 100-yard breast with a fifth-place finish and a time of 1:00.89.
Gatrall took bronze in the 100-yard back finals with a time of 53.27 while Reid finished eighth with a time of 53.54.
The Zips took Gold in the 800-yard free relay as the squad of Szwabinska (1:48.36), Klintemar (1:48.65), Reid (1:48.62) and Kossakowska (1:46.54) finished with a time of 7:12.17 and set a CSCAA NIC record in the process, breaking the previous time of 7:12.57.
The third and final day of the National Invitational Championships begins on Saturday, March 15.
BALL STATE
Freshman Anna Keen and Junior Payton Kelly continued their impressive performances at the FAST (Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training), as they each set new program standards in individual competition on Day 2 of the 2025 CSCAA National Invitational Championships.
Following a second-place finish in the 50 butterfly a day prior, Keen advanced to the top finals position in the 100 Friday morning after posting a time of 53.03. In the process, Keen bested her previous mark of 53.64, which she set two weeks ago at the Mid-American Conference Championships Feb. 28.
Initially sharing the fastest program time with Mallory Miles, who set the record in 2013, Keen now holds the new standard in the Cardinals' record book on her own. In the finals, Keen went on to surpass the former record once again, placing fourth in the finals with a time of 53.06.
During time trials, Kelly set a new top mark in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 53.52 and claiming her third individual program record in two weeks.
The Cardinals continue action with 11 events Saturday at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
BOWLING GREEN
Five BGSU swimmers wrapped up the second day of competition at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship.
Emily McNicol placed 29th in the 100 backstroke with a time of 55.56, while Ava Vial took 32nd in the 400 IM (4:27.44) during the morning prelims.
In the Falcons' lone evening event, the 200 medley relay squad of McNicol, Grace Perlberg, Riley McNichols and Samia Becdach swam a time of 1:42.92, good enough for 24th.
The team ended the day in 30th place with 62 points scored.

Bowling Green will put a bow on their 2024-25 campaign during the final day of competition at the NIC. McNicol will participate in the 200 backstroke and Perlberg in the 200 breaststroke, while a trio of Grace Bodrock, Karina Solera and Vial will represent the Falcons in the 200 butterfly.
Prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
BUFFALO
Mia Naccarella continued her momentum on day two, taking second place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.33. The fifth-year's time was under two-tenths of a second shy of her personal record that ranks fifth in program history (1:47.14). In the preliminary round, Naccarella placed second among 38 swimmers with a time of 1:48.02.
Forsman placed fifth in the consolation finals of the 400-yard individual medley and 15th overall in a field of 54 swimmers with a time of 4:18.73. The freshman was just over two seconds shy of her personal record that ranks sixth in program history (4:16.70). Forsman finished 16th to qualify for the consolation finals with a time of 4:20.92. Elise McCaul also competed for the Bulls, finishing 26th with a time of 4:25.98.
The Bulls finished 11th of 34 teams in the 200-yard medley relay. Naccarella, Rider, Aguilar and Roy combined to finish the event in 1:40.97, falling just shy of the program's all-time top ten (1:40.08).
Aguilar placed 21st of 49 swimmers in the preliminary round of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.24, missing the consolation finals cut by one one-hundredth of a second (55.23). The junior was less than two seconds shy of her personal record that ranks fourth in program history (53.63).
Rider finished 29th of 53 swimmers in the preliminary round of the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.11. The sophomore missed the finals cut by less than a second (1:02.38).
Roy placed 33rd of 55 swimmers in the preliminary round of the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.78. The sophomore missed the finals cut by less than a second (55.11).
