Ohio Wrestling Defeats Davidson, 28-10
DAVIDSON, N.C.—The Ohio Wrestling team returned to the mat on Saturday afternoon, defeating Davidson 28-10 in the first of two duals over the weekend.
 
Redshirt senior Zayne Lehman was a standout performer for the Bobcats, defeating Davidson's Dylan Smith by technical fall (16-0), recording a crucial victory to stretch the Bobcat lead to 18-10. Lehman maintains an undefeated 3-0 record in dual meets on the season.
 
The Bobcats started the match strong, with sophomore Ryan Meek and freshman Abe Hermes picking up decision victories at 133 lbs. and 141 lbs. to give the Bobcats an early 6-0 lead.
 
After the Bobcats fell behind in the match 10-6, redshirt sophomore Jeremy Olszko got the Bobcats back on track with an 8-1 decision victory at 174 lbs. over Davidson's Mark Koch. At 184 lbs, redshirt senior Sal Perrine continued the Bobcat's momentum with a 19-5 major decision victory over Davidson's Cody Kirk to help the Bobcats regain the lead in the match. Both Olszko and Perrine sport 3-0 dual meet records this season. 
 
After Lehman's victory by technical fall, at 285 lbs. sophomore Wyatt Schmitt defeated Davidson's DJ Spring II by 4-0 decision for his first dual meet victory of the season.

Up next, the Bobcats will travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Gardner-Webb in a dual meet to close out competition in 2025. The match will start at 1 P.M. and will be streaming on ESPN+.


Huskies Roll to a Pair of Victories at VMI Duals 
LEXINGTON, Va. –
The Bloomsburg wrestling team turned in a strong all-around performance at the VMI Duals, posting back-to-back dual victories against Sacred Heart and VMI behind a lineup that produced multiple bonus-point wins and clutch performances throughout the day.

Bloomsburg opened the event against Sacred Heart with early momentum, winning the first two bouts by fall. At 125 pounds, Jace Schafer set the tone with a first-period pin at 4:20, and Aiden Grogg followed at 133 pounds with a fall at the 2:02 mark to give the Huskies a quick advantage. Sacred Heart answered at 141 pounds, but the Huskies stayed competitive through the middle of the lineup.

Dustin Elliott battled through a tight decision at 149 pounds, while William Morrow pushed his bout at 157 pounds into sudden victory before dropping a narrow overtime decision. Bloomsburg regained control at 165 pounds as Braidon Woodward delivered an 8-0 major decision. The Huskies continued to add separation at 184 pounds with Ethan Ducca's commanding a 17-5 major decision.

Coy Raines sealed a sudden-victory win at 197 pounds, and Mason Rebuck closed the dual emphatically with a technical fall at heavyweight, lifting Bloomsburg to a 28–14 victory over Sacred Heart.

Bloomsburg carried that momentum into its matchup with host VMI, earning a 26-11 win by taking seven of the 10 contested bouts. Schafer again opened the dual dominantly at 125 pounds, recording a 15-0 technical fall to give the Huskies an early lead. Grogg followed with another bonus-point performance, pinning his opponent at 2:59 at 133 pounds.

Richie Woods added a hard-fought 2-0 decision at 141 pounds before VMI picked up wins at 149 and 157 pounds. Woodward halted the run at 165 pounds with an 8-1 decision, keeping Bloomsburg firmly in control of the dual.

After a setback at 174 pounds, the Huskies closed the dual strong as Ducca earned a 4-1 decision at 184 pounds, Raines followed with a 6-3 victory at 197 pounds, and Rebuck capped the day with an 8-6 decision at heavyweight to secure the team win.

The Huskies get back to action on January 2 when they travel to Ohio for a MAC dual at 7:00 p.m. in Athens, Ohio. 
 

Ethan Barr Leads Golden Flashes at Kent State Open
KENT, Ohio– The Kent State Wrestling team produced another impressive outing in the second Kent State Open of the season on Saturday with double-digit place-finishers. Ethan Barr led the way for the Blue and Gold and nine others placed in the top six inside the MAC Center.

Barr(174) won all three matches on the day including a pin in the final over Caleb Neal(SIUE) in the first round to win his second Kent State Open in two weeks.

Three other Flashes advanced to the finals with semifinal wins, but eventually lost in the finals to good competition. Silas Stits (149), Reese Stephen (157) and Chris Earnest(165) all finished the day with second-place.

Freshman Braxton Quaintance (174) was the lone third-place finisher for KSU as he beat Brody Murray(Chattanooga) in his final match of the day. Nick Molchak (133) and Trent Thomas (184) each finished in fourth place.

Nico Calello (125) won his fifth-place match, while Keegan Knapp (157) and Mason Higley (197) both finished in sixth. Higley and Stits have both finished in the top six in each of the three opens they have participated in for the Flashes as Freshman this season.

The Golden Flashes will enjoy the Holiday Break and will be back in action after the new year. On January 8th, they will head to New Jersey to take on conference-leading Rider University in a MAC Dual Meet.
