HARRISONBURG, Va. – The 2025 MAC Field Hockey Championship continues today with two semifinal showdowns on the campus of James Madison University at JMU Field Hockey Complex.
Tournament MACtion is back at 11:30 a.m. ET with a rematch of last year’s championship between No. 1 Miami and No. 4 James Madison before No. 2 Massachusetts and No. 3 App State battle at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Both matches will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
The winner of the both games on Thursday will secure their place in Saturday’s MAC Field Hockey Championship at 12PM ET.

No. 1 Miami RedHawks
After finishing the season at 13-4 (8-1 MAC) and winning the tiebreaker over UMass, Miami will be the No. 1 seed in the six-team tournament and earned a bye to the semifinals. The RedHawks will be playing for their eighth straight MAC tournament title.
Miami enters the tournament with four 2025 MAC Specialty Award Winners, five All-MAC Team honorees, and four All-Freshman team members. The RedHawks also secured a share of the 2025 MAC Field Hockey Regular Season Title, marking the ninth consecutive year earning a share or better of the crown.
Head coach Iñako Puzo was voted Coach of the Year, while freshman Malena Sabez secured Offensive Player of the Year honors. Senior Berta Mata took home her second straight Defensive Player of the Year award, while striker Justina Intzes garnered the Freshman of the Year accolade.
Miami has also spent a number of weeks in the NFHCA National Coaches’ Poll Top-25, climbing as high as its current rank of No. 13. The RedHawks will look to secure their 12th consecutive MAC Championship Final appearance with a win on Thursday.
No. 4 James Madison Dukes
James Madison enters the semifinals following a 4-1 win over Central Michigan on Wednesday. Fourth-seeded James Madison dominated on the offensive end and had four different goal scorers en route to a 4-1 victory against fifth-seeded Central Michigan in the Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Championship quarterfinals on Wednesday afternoon at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.
Three of JMU's first four scores all came from penalty corner opportunities, as the goal scorers included Skyler Brown (9), Brynna Hill (3), Avery Ruckman (3), and Sydney Raguini (2).
JMU controlled the shots department by a 23-7 margin and held a 19-1 lead in shots on goal, as CMU's only shot on cage was with its lone score by Hailey Bainer right before halftime.

No. 2 Massachusetts Minutewomen
The Minutewomen head to Harrisonburg for the MAC Field Hockey Championship as the No. 2 overall seed. They will face App State on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 2:30 p.m. in the tournament semifinal.
UMass comes into tournament play after securing a share of the 2025 MAC Field Hockey Regular Season Championship in its inaugural year as a MAC member. The Minutewomen went 8-1 in MAC play and spend the entirety of the regular season in the NFHCA National Coaches’ Poll Top-25, currently ranked at No. 14.
A total of eight Minutewomen earned All-MAC recognition while senior Myrte van Herwijnen collected Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
No. 3 App State Mountaineers
The Mountaineers will face off against No. 2 UMass in the semifinals of the 2025 MAC Field Hockey Championship. First touch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., streaming on ESPN+.
App State advanced to this year’s semifinals with a 3-1 win over Ohio on Wednesday. Sophomore Frederique Grimbergen notched a pair of first half goals while junior Sophia Baxter added an insurance score in the final quarter. The Mountaineers finished the game outshooting Ohio 14-3 and holding a 5-1 advantage in penalty corners.
This marks the first postseason victory for the Mountaineers since 2022 and head coach Emily Dinsmore's first postseason win at the helm.
