Akron Swim & Dive Defeat EMU on The Road

YPSILANTI, Mich. – The Akron swimming and diving team came away with a 110-70 victory in a dual meet at Eastern Michigan on Friday, October 31.

The Zips finished with 13 event wins, while Eastern won five.

The Zips started the meet against the Eagles with a 2nd place finish in the 3-meter dive, as Elizabeth Noble finished with a score of 255.15.

The first of the 13 events the Blue and Gold would claim came in the 50 Fly, with Hannah Trainer taking the top time of 25.87.

Avery Knight and Abbey Cronin took the top two times in the 50 Back with times of 27.14 and 27.40, respectively.

Claire Cox finished second in the 50 Breast (29.74) while Ada Szwabinska (23.35) and Callie Parkes (29.74) finished No. 1 and 2 in the 50 Free.

Felicia Klintemar led the Zips in the 100 IM (1:00.55) with a second-place finish, while Elle Couture also took second (10:29.83) in the 1000 Free.

The Blue and Gold got another event win as Trainer finished first in the 100 Fly (57.00) while Knight (57.98) and Cronin (58.43) took second and third in the 100 Back.

Claire Cox took gold in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:04.59, while Szwabinska also took gold in the 100 Free with a time of 51.67.

Klintemar added to the Zips' win total with a first-place finish in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.76, while Helena Lalkovic (2:28.31) and Couture (2:28.49) took second and third in the 250 Free.

Noble would take gold in the 1-meter dive with a score of 256.20 to begin a stretch of seven consecutive events in which the Zips would place first.

Trainer and Ava Withey placed first and second in the 150 Fly with times of 1:30.93 and 1:33.03, respectively, while Cronin took first in the 150 Back with a time of 1:29.80.

Cox (1:21.99) kept the winning ways going with a gold in the 150 Free while Maggie Patterson (3:21.64) clocked the fastest time in the 300 IM.

The Zips concluded the dual meet with a sweep of the top three times in the 25 Free with Nina Shulik (12.41), Couture (12.46) and Lalkovic (12.56) leading the way.

What's Next?
Akron returns to the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium on November 8 for a tri-meet with Pittsburgh and Mid-American foe Miami. The event is set to begin at 1 p.m.
