YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Parker Navarro threw two touchdown passes to Chase Hendricks, Sieh Bangura ran for two scores and Ohio defeated Eastern Michigan 28-21 on Saturday.

After trailing by seven points at halftime, the Bobcats (5-3, 3-1 Mid-American Conference) put together a strong second half in which they had touchdown drives of 67, 70 and 69 yards. Bangura had two short touchdown runs sandwiched around Navarro’s 14-yard TD pass to Hendricks for a 28-14 lead in the fourth quarter.

Nick Devereaux caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Noah Kim with 1:39 remaining in the game but the Eagles (2-7, 1-4) did not get the ball back.

Navarro completed 23 of 28 passes for 315 yards with the two touchdowns. He was intercepted twice. Bangura had 100 yards on the ground and Navarro added 63. Hendricks caught 10 passes for 112 yards and Rodney Harris II had 103 yards on six receptions.

Kim had 259 yards passing with two touchdowns to Devereaux, who had 121 yards on five catches.

Bryce Llewellyn was credited with 13 tackles for Eastern Michigan and Jalen Thomeson led Ohio with 11 tackles.

KENT, Ohio (AP) —
 Da’Realyst Clark found Wayne Harris wide open in the end zone on a wide receiver pass with 3:15 remaining and Kent State held off Bowling Green 24-21 on Saturday.

Kent State trailed 21-3 with 8:47 left in the third quarter before scoring 21 straight.

The Golden Flashes went 79 yards in seven plays to get within 21-10 on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Dru DeShields to Cade Wolford. After Bowling Green went three-and-out, Gavin Garcia raced for a 45-yard touchdown to make it 21-17 with 4:23 left in the third.

After Kent State’s go-ahead trick play, Bowling Green was stopped on two drives in the final three minutes to seal it.

DeShields threw for 160 yards with one touchdown for Kent State (3-5, 2-2 Mid-American Conference).

Bowling Green (3-5, 1-3) starting quarterback Baron May was carted off the field with 28 seconds left after a non-contact injury. He threw for 142 yards and a touchdown. Austyn Dendy carried it 20 times for 93 yards and a touchdown.

Kent State won its 25th game in the 93rd all-time meeting.

BUFFALO, N.Y.(AP) — Quarterback Ben Finley threw two touchdowns and added a rushing score in the second half to lead Akron over Buffalo, 24-16 on Saturday.

The Zips (3-6, 2-3 Mid-American) were down 10-3 coming out of halftime. Finley found Kyan Mason for a 9-yard touchdown to tie the score, and Conner Cravaack on a 5-yard throw into the end zone to take the lead. Finley's 38-yard run made it 24-13 for Akron. 

Finley went 17-for-32, with 230 yards in the air and 12 yards on the ground. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak against Buffalo (4-4, 3-1) dating back to 2017.

Gage Summers intercepted the ball with 33 seconds left on the clock to seal the victory for Akron. The Zips’ defense forced five turnovers, the most in a game since 2021.

Bulls quarterback Ta'Quan Roberson had 266 yards and one touchdown, and was intercepted and sacked four times.

OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — Dequan Finn threw for a touchdown and ran for another in the fourth quarter and Miami (Ohio) rallied for a 26-17 victory Saturday to take sole possession of first place in the Mid-American Conference.

Trailing 17-9, Finn threw a 3-yard TD pass to Brian Shane early in the final quarter. Six minutes later he completed a 50-yard pass to Kam Perry down to the Western Michigan 18-yard line, setting up his own touchdown run on the next play for the lead.

Adam Trick’s strip-sack ended the Broncos’ ensuing possession and Dom Dzioban provided a cushion with a 51-yard field goal. Dzioban made all four of his attempts.

Both the RedHawks (5-3, 4-0) and the Broncos (4-4, 3-1) came in on four-game win streaks. Miami has won 11 straight regular-season MAC games.

Finn was 18-of-30 passing for 260 yards and ran for 52 more. Jordan Brunson rushed for 90 yards on 13 carries. Perry had 98 yards receiving and Weaver 96.

Broc Lowry was 16 of 28 for 172 yards and a touchdown to Talique Williams and rushed for 82 more. Michael Brescia had a rushing TD.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (AP) — Joe Labas threw two touchdown passes, Brock Townsend had a 51-yard TD reception and ran for two scores, and Central Michigan beat Massachusetts 38-13 on Saturday to extend the Minutemen’s losing streak to 12 games.

UMass (0-8, 0-4 Mid-American Conference) hasn’t won a game in nearly a calendar year, since a 35-7 win over Wagner on Oct. 26, 2024.

Townsend scored on first-quarter runs of 1 and 5 yards before Angel Flores ran for a 9-yard touchdown that gave Central Michigan (5-3, 3-1) a 21-3 lead going into the second. Townsend, a 6-foot, 220-pound freshman, caught a short pass around the 45 and broke a pair of would-be tackles as he raced to the end zone to make it 31-10 less than two minutes into the second half.

An interception by Kalen Carroll gave Central Michigan the ball at its own 42 and Labas threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Nasir Williams that gave the Chippewas a 28-point lead with 7:50 to go in the third quarter.

Rocko Griffin scored on a 43-yard run for UMass in the first quarter. Derek Morris made field goals of 29 and 50 yards.

Chavon Wright and Telly Johnson Jr. combined for 266 yards rushing and a touchdown to lead Northern Illinois to a 21-7 victory over Ball State on Saturday.

Johnson broke loose on a 53-yard touchdown run on the opening drive for Northern Illinois (2-6, 1-3 Mid-American Conference). Josh Holst added a 7-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a 14-yard TD pass to DeAree Rogers in the fourth for the Huskies, who ended a six-game losing streak.

Wright had 166 yards rushing on 37 carries. Johnson ran the ball 15 times for 100 yards. Holst completed 6 of 11 passes for 65 yards with 36 yards on the ground.

Kiael Kelly was 10-of-23 passing for 136 yards and threw a touchdown pass and two interceptions, and led Ball State (3-5, 2-2) with 86 yards rushing on 27 carries.

Drew Cassens’ 1-yard TD catch ended an 11-play, 80-yard drive for Ball State that tied it 7-7 early in the second quarter.


Washington State 28, Toledo 7

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Zevi Eckhaus threw two touchdown passes and opened the scoring with a 7-yard TD run to help Washington State beat Toledo 28-7 on Saturday.

Eckhaus was 10-of-22 passing for 159 yards with two interceptions and added a game-high 74 yards rushing on 15 carries. Kirby Vorhees finished with 62 yards rushing for Washington State (4-4) and his 6-yard touchdown run capped the scoring with 2:21 to play.

Tony Freeman caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Eckhaus that capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive with 4:00 left in the second quarter and Eckhaus threw a 35-yard TD pass to Cater Pabst that made it 21-0 with 51 second left.

Junior Vandeross III caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Gleason and Toledo (4-4) trailed 21-7 at halftime.

Gleason finished 26-of-41 passing for 238 yards and threw an interception.
