Two-Minute Drill

•  For the third year in a row, Ohio opened Mid-American Conference play 1-0, securing a 35-20 win over Bowling Green at home on Saturday. The Bobcats didn’t trail once en route to the high-scoring victory.  The Ohio defense forced four turnovers in the game, two of which were forced by graduate student linebacker Cameron Hollobaugh. Offensively, Parker Navarro threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more, while Sieh Bangura rushed for 115 yards. 

• Quarterbacks Angel Flores (134 rushing) and Joe Labas (138 passing) combined for 280 yards on Saturday as the Chippewas defeated Eastern Michigan, 24-13, in their conference opener. It was CMU’s second straight win as it improved to 3-2 and gave first-year coach Matt Drinkall a victory in his first conference game.

•  Toledo earned a 45-3 Homecoming victory over Akron at the Glass Bowl on Saturday. The Rockets outgained the Zips in total offense by a tally of 545-145 and jumped out to a 28-0 lead early in the second quarter.  Tucker Gleason completed 16-of-19 passes for 237 yards and three touchdowns, adding another score on the ground. Gleason’s  84.2 completion percentage was the highest of his career.

• Jermaine Agee returned a blocked punt for a touchdown and Kam Perry had two receiving touchdowns to lead Miami to a 38-0 shutout victory over Lindenwood on Saturday in Oxford. Henry Hesson threw for 208 yards in his first home start and Kenny Tracy added a career-high 134 rushing yards and a touchdown.

• Western Michigan scored 44 consecutive points on Saturday night as the Broncos defeated Rhode Island, 47-14, for their second straight win at Waldo Stadium. The Bronco defense wreaked havoc on the Rams, recording seven sacks and four turnovers while allowing 251 yards of total offense. URI was held to -5 yards on the ground.
