Two-Minute Drill
• Western Michigan scored 14 unanswered points to come from behind and defeat Toledo, 14-13, in dramatic fashion at home on Saturday. Broc Lowry finished with a career-high 16 completions and 201 yards passing, while rushing for 50 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start. Tailique Williams had a game-high 112 yards on four receptions.
• Central Michigan defeated Wagner, 49-10, in its home opener on Saturday. The Chippewas jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back, scoring 21 and 14 points in the second and third quarters, respectively. Joe Labas threw a career-high three touchdown passes in the first half, while Dakota Cochran returned a pick-6 and recovered a fumble to lead CMU’s defense.
• The Ohio Bobcats ended their non-conference slate with a 52-35 win over Gardner-Webb at Peden Stadium on Saturday. The running back duo of Sieh Bangura (123 yards and three touchdowns) and Duncan Brune (88 yards and three touchdowns) paced the Ohio offense on the ground. Additionally, Chase Hendricks (144 receiving yards) and Parker Navarro (290 passing yards) posted career highs in the victory.
• Akron used a huge 265-yard performance on the ground, including 161 yards and three rushing touchdowns from Jordan Gant to pick up a 51-7 win against Duquesne on Saturday night at home. Overall, the Zips totaled 514 yards (265 rushing and 249 passing) while averaging almost 8 yards per play. Defensively, Akron forced three takeaways with a pair of interceptions, (one returned for a touchdown) and a forced fumble, leading to 14 points.
• Rudy Kessinger drilled a 42-yard, game-winning field goal with three seconds remaining to lift Eastern Michigan to a 34-31 Homecoming win over Louisiana. Dontae McMillan finished the game with 126 yards rushing, while Tavierre Dunlap carried the ball 11 times for 45 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Caleb Dobbs and Bryce Llewellyn each recorded interceptions in the fourth quarter.
