MAC Announces Track and Field Athletes of the Week

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Tysean Baronette, Akron, Sophomore
Len Paddock Invitational, 200m/1 20.46s, 100m/3 10.37, 1 MAC/23 NCAA, 3 MAC/138 NCAA
Akron sophomore Tysean Baronette captured the men’s 200 meters at the Len Paddock Invitational in a career-best time of 20.46, the third-fastest time in outdoor program history. His performance stands as the 23rd-best clocking in the NCAA this season and is the top-rated time in the Mid-American Conference. He also finished the 100m in a career-best time of 10.37. Additionally, he ran the lead-off leg on the winning 4x400 relay.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Del’Mario Hariston, Kent State, R-Senior
Clark Wood Open, LJ/1, 7.60m, 1 MAC/61 NCAA
Won the open section of the long jump with the #4 performance in program history.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Esme Davies, Eastern Michigan, Senior
Penn Relays, 5000m/10, 15:59.07, 1 MAC/72 NCAA
Esme Davies finished 10th out of 60 competitors in 15:59.07 in the 5,000m run at the Penn Relays, hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, April 25. Davies’ time serves as the best in the conference, 72nd-fastest in the country, stands as the third-fastest in program history, and marks an outdoor personal-best.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Ella Scally, Miami, Sophomore
RedHawk Invitational, LJ/1, 6.25m, 1 MAC/51 NCAA
Ella Scally set a new PR in the long jump event this weekend at the RedHawk Invitational. Scally finished in first place with 6.25 meters and now ranks first in the MAC and 51st in the country. This distance puts her at second all time in program history, topping her previous distance by .09 meters.
