Bowling Green
The Bowling Green State University volleyball team will host the first two rounds of the NIVC this week. BGSU will first take on Binghamton on Wednesday (Dec. 4) with the winner advancing to face Wright State on Thursday (Dec. 5). Both matches are scheduled for 7 p.m. start at the Stroh Center. The team to advance from the three-team pod will compete in the Great 8, which will take place in the Dec. 9-12 range, depending on location.
Bowling Green will return to the NIVC for the first time since 2019, making the program's sixth appearance all-time. Overall, the Falcons have a 7-6 record in the tournament. After falling in the first round in 2017 and 2018, BGSU topped Purdue Fort Wayne in 2019 at home with a 3-1 final before facing TCU in the second round. Bowling Green's first appearance in the NIVC was in 1992, finishing as the runner-up in the tournament. The Falcons topped Delaware, Virginia Tech, UT Arlington, Fresno State and Minnesota before coming up short to Washington State in the finals. BGSU added two NIVC wins in 1993, beating Siena and Kansas.
Toledo
The Toledo women's volleyball team begins play in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) on Thursday, Dec. 5. The Rockets will face off against DePaul in Chicago at 8:00 p.m. ET. The winner of Thursday's match will face the winner of Lindenwood-Omaha on Friday, Dec. 6 in Chicago.
With the bid to the NIVC, the Rockets (17-14) will see postseason volleyball for the third time in four years. In 2021, Toledo earned its first postseason win over Indiana State and followed up with a win over Clemson in the 2022 NIVC.
