CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Head Coaches have made their preseason predictions for the 2023 season. Reigning MAC Champion Miami was selected to take home the regular season title and tournament championship.
The RedHawks received 55 points and six first place votes, while Kent State earned two first place votes and a total of 49 points to finish second in the poll.
Appalachian State was picked third with 42 points, followed by Ball State, Ohio, Longwood, Bellarmine, and Central Michigan.
The RedHawks have 21 returning veterans to the squad that will help introduce the nine newcomers to the successful program. The 2022 season was the fifth time in a row that Miami secured the MAC Tournament Championship. They also took the MAC Season Championship with a 6-1 record in the MAC.
The MAC field hockey season begins on Friday, August 25th. The season will culminate with the MAC Field Hockey Championship, host by Miami University which takes place November 3rd and 4th.
