Evans, Fraley Earn MAC Scholar of the Week Honors

The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): 
Samson Evans is now the all-time touchdown leader in Eastern Michigan history as he pushed his way into the end zone against Ball State for the 32nd score of his career. Evans, who has scored all 32 of his touchdowns at EMU on the ground, broke a tie with former Huron great Gary Patton (1984-87), who held the all-time scoring mark for nearly 36 years. Evans already owns the all-time rushing touchdowns record after he surpassed the previous mark of 26 held by both Patton and Anthony Sherrell (2002-05) last season. Evans ranks highly among touchdowns scored by active FBS players he currently ranks fifth nationally for rushing touchdowns (32) and seventh for overall touchdowns scored (32). Evans is currently one of only 11 FBS players with 30+ touchdowns scored on the all-time active list and one of just two in the MAC and is also just 32 yards shy of reaching 2,000 rushing yards in his career.

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): 
Ball State junior forward Lexi Fraley led all MAC players with eight points last week, scoring braces in a 3-1 win over Kent State (Oct. 5) and in a 5-0 win at Buffalo (Oct. 8). The effort helped the Cardinals improve to 4-0-2 in league play. She registered five shots on goal over the two matches, with four reaching the back of the net. Fraley scored in the 14th minute and added an insurance goal in the 87th minute in the win over the Golden Flashes. She scored the game’s second goal in the 27th minute at Buffalo and set the tone early in the second half with a 54th minute goal.
