Buffalo was picked to place third in the poll, followed by Kent State, Toledo, Miami, Ball State, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Akron and Northern Illinois.

Ohio women's soccer is coming off a record-setting 2021 season, as the team finished with their highest winning percentage (.694) since the 2002 season, alongside the highest conference win total (7) since 2006. The Bobcats will return with many returning players on their roster including redshirt seniors; Sam Wexell, Haley Miller, and graduate student Abby Townsend.

The Falcons return 15 letterwinners, including eight starters, from last season's club. The 2021 team went 11-7-3 overall and 8-2-1 in the MAC, and BGSU won both the conference regular-season and tournament titles. In 2021, BGSU achieved a feat that will be very difficult to repeat. The Falcons advanced to the NCAA Championships twice in the same calendar year. BG went 6-1-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the MAC in the spring, outscoring opponents, 17-3.

Buffalo returns 18 players, including eight starters, from last season and will welcome five freshmen and three transfers to a team that went 13-4-3 and advanced to the semifinals of the MAC Tournament a last year.

The MAC women’s soccer season begins on Thursday, August 18th, while conference play is set to begin on Thursday, September 22nd. The season will culminate with the MAC Women’s Soccer Championship, which takes place October 30 (Quarterfinals), November 3 (Semifinals) and November 6 (Finals).
