Hooks Earns Final Women's Basketball Player of The Week

Cece Hooks became the second player in Ohio program history to record a triple-double after posting 31 points, 11 assists and 10 steals in Ohio's 84-70 win over Miami. Hooks 10 steals was a school record, while her 11 assists were a career-best. Hooks started the week off with a 33 point, 10 rebound performance against Akron. Hooks averaged an incredible 32 points per game, seven rebounds, seven assists and 8.5 steals per game last week. Hooks was 25-of-47 from the field over the week and was 14-of-17 from the free throw line.

Quinesha Lockett, Toledo

Sophomore Quinesha Lockett was instrumental in helping Toledo wrap up the year on a high note, averaging 26.0 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game during the Rockets' 2-0 week. Lockett recorded her third 30-point game of the season on Wednesday at Western Michigan, dropping 30 points, grabbing a career-high nine rebounds, and collecting three steals while shooting 76.5% from the floor (13-for-17) in the 82-73 victory. In Saturday's game against Eastern Michigan, Lockett scored 22 points and added six rebounds to help Toledo end the season with a 59-55 win over EMU. She ends the year averaging 19.6 points per game, which ties her for seventh all-time in program history in single-season scoring average. The Omaha, Neb. native is now tied with Angela Drake, who averaged 19.6 points per game in the 1995-96 season. Lockett's 19.6 points per game is the highest scoring average by a Rocket since 1998-99 when Kim Knuth averaged 25.4 points per game.
 
Reilly Jacobson, Western Michigan University

Redshirt senior Reilly Jacobson ended the 2020-21 campaign on a high note, averaging 24.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in two games against Toledo and Ball State. Jacobson in the two games combined to shoot a stellar 63.3 percent from the field to go along with a 91.7 percent clip from the free-throw line. Averaging 34.0 minutes per game, Jacobson also averaged 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per contest. Against Toledo on Wednesday Jacobson scored a career-high 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. The Waukee, Iowa native against the Rockets also collected eight rebounds to go along with two assists and two steals. On Saturday against Ball State, Jacobson led the Broncos with 21 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field with five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. Jacobson ended the season with back-to-back 20-point performances and has scored 20 or more in four of the final five games.  
 
Oshlynn Brown, Ball State

Brown has had a spectacular career at Ball State and this week she continued to shine as she averaged another double-double with 20.0 points and 17.0 rebounds per contest in last week's competition. She was stellar from the free throw line shooting over 76 percent from the charity stripe. The senior forward was recognized on Saturday for all of her accomplishments including becoming the Cardinals' all-time leading rebounder this year and becoming only the second player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and rebounds. Brown dropped in 26 point, 17 rebound performance at home against Central Michigan and then ended the week against Western Michigan scoring 14 points and mimicking her rebound performance with another 17 rebounds against the Broncos. Brown has 48 career double doubles. She  Brown is also currently third on the list of active NCAA DI for career double-double leaders with 48 and fourth in total rebounds 1,084. 
 
Chelby Koker, NIU      
Guard, Sophomore     Racine, Wis. (Shoreland Lutheran)    
 
Chelby Koker averaged 24.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game in the final week of the regular season. The sophomore had a game-high 21 points in the Huskies' win over Eastern Michigan Wednesday night, adding nine rebounds and five assists. Koker was 6-for-8 from the field and 8-for-9 from the foul line. She followed that up with a game-high 28 points at Central Michigan, scoring 24 points in the second half alone. Koker shot over 58 percent from the field for the week and was 17-for-22 at the free throw line.
 
Micaela Kelly, Central Michigan

Central Michigan senior guard Micaela Kelly put on a show in the final week of the regular season as the Chippewas captured a pair of victories over Ball State and Northern Illinois and clinched the No.2 seed at the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Detroit native averaged 25.5 points over the two-game stretch shooting 48.6 percent (18-of-37) from the floor. She also averaged 6.5 assists and 6.5 boards respectively. In Wednesday's 87-81 double-overtime road win over the Cardinals, Kelly notched her first double-double of the season with a team-best 26 points and 10 boards. She also led the team with seven assists and five steals. In Saturday's 74-68 home win over the Huskies on Senior Day, Kelly went for a team-high 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting and was 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. On the season, Kelly ranks No.3 in the MAC and No.11 in the NCAA averaging 23.4 points per game. 
 
Layne Ferrell, Akron

Akron redshirt freshman Layne Ferrell continued her torrid run of play to come the season this week averaging 21.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals in a pair of games for the Zips. A career-high 25-point performance from Ferrell led Akron o a 71-67 triumph past Ohio in the Zips' regular-season home finale on Wednesday, March 3 at James A. Rhodes Arena. Ferrell more than doubled her previous career-high scoring mark (12) finishing with 25 points on 8-of-15 shooting, including connecting on a career-best four three pointers. For the fifth time in the last six games to close the campaign, Ferrell scored in double figures for the Zips netting a team-high 17 points at Kent State on Saturday, March 6. On the season, she averaged 5.5 and 2.0 rebounds per game appearing in all 20 Akron contests, including making four starts.
 
Elissa Brett, Bowling Green   
Guard, Sophomore, Adelaide, Australia       
 
Bowling Green’s Elissa Brett led the team in scoring and rebounding last week, shooting 62 percent from the floor as the Falcons split a pair of games, with the loss coming by one point in overtime. Brett had 19 points and six rebounds, going 7-for-9 from the field and 3-of-4 from the arc, as BGSU downed Kent State by 17 on Wednesday. She also dished out three assists vs. the Golden Flashes. On Saturday, Brett had 18 points and six boards, playing over 43 minutes of the Falcons’ OT loss to Buffalo. On the season, Brett is averaging 11.4 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, leading the Falcons in the latter category. She had 11.8 ppg and 6.7 rpg in MAC games. BGSU is 18-5 overall, and the Falcons won the MAC regular-season championship with a 14-4 league ledger.
 
Dyaisha Fair, Buffalo
Guard, Sophomore, Rochester, NY (Edison Tech)    
 
Dyaisha Fair led the Bulls to a pair of wins, averaging 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals on the week. She scored a game-high 21 points to go with seven assists, four rebounds and two steals in a win over Miami (OH) on Wednesday. Fair then scored 16 points to go with three rebounds, three assists and two steals in an overtime win at Bowling Green on Saturday. The Rochester, NY native is currently ranked sixth in the nation in scoring (24.1 ppg) and also ranks in the top 25 in free throws made (130) and attempted (161), assists (114), steals (61), field goals made (173), three point field goals made (55) and final points (531). She is one of only five players in all of Division I to average at least 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. She has scored in double figures 21 times this season, 16 times with 20 or more points, four times with 30+ points and is one of 12 players in all of Division I to have a recorded a triple-double.
