Cleveland State Leads MAC in 2025 NCAA D1 Men's Team Scholar All-America Honors

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced its 2025 NCAA D1 Men's Team Scholar All-America Awards. Cleveland State claimed the top spot of all Mid-American Conference programs with an impressive team GPA of 3.655, and the second-highest team grade-point average for the third straight year.

The top five programs in this year's rankings are:

  1. California Baptist University - 3.7005
  2. Cleveland State University - 3.655
  3. UA Little Rock - 3.619
  4. Harvard University - 3.587
  5. Utah Valley University - 3.579

No.2 Cleveland State - 3.655
The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) was slotted into the second spot of the 2025 NCAA D1 Men's Team Scholar All-America Awards.

The Vikings secured a Top 3 GPA for a fifth straight year and third consecutive with a runner-up finish. Cleveland State posted a 3.65 GPA which is the highest cumulative GPA for the program, topping their previous best from last year of 3.54.

This is the highest cumulative GPA for the Green and White after posting a 3.54 last year.

California Baptist University claimed the top spot with a team GPA of 3.75 and Arkansas Little Rock was third with a 3.62 GPA. Harvard was fourth with a 3.59 GPA and Utah Valley was fifth with a 3.59 GPA.

Cleveland State had six Scholar Athletes in Daniel BucknavichTate GeiserJoey LyonsEthan MitchellJR Reed, and Connor Saylor.

No. 12 Northern Illinois - 3.536
Academic honors continue to roll in for the Northern Illinois University wrestling program as the Huskies earned team scholar All-America honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) on April 10.
 
The Huskies are No. 12 in the nation with a 3.536 team grade point average and the second highest Mid-American Conference school to receive this honor.
 
This is the latest academic award to come for the Huskies after Blake West (Shakopee, Minn./Shakopee), Jacob Christensen (Durham, Calif./Durham), Tommy Bennett (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice), and Collin Arch (Palmyra, Mo./Palmyra) received NWCA Scholar All-American honors on April 2.
 
West, Christensen, Bennett, and Arch were joined by Jake Evans (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) and Brett Smith (Troy, Mo./Buchanan) in receiving Academic All-MAC honors on April 1.

No. 25 Kent State - 3.411
The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) has announced the 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Team Scholar All-America Awards, recognizing the top academic programs across the country.

Kent State wrestling secured the No. 25 spot with a 3.411 team GPA, continuing a strong tradition of academic success. California Baptist University earned the top ranking with a 3.7005 GPA.

This marks the 11th time in the past 12 seasons that Kent State has finished in the top 25 of the NWCA Team Scholar All-America standings. The program's best finish came in 2018, when the Golden Flashes placed second in the nation with a 3.4978 GPA.

No. 29 SIU Edwardsville 3.388
SIUE redshirt sophomore Bradley Gillum has been named a 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Scholar All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. As a team, SIUE finished 29th nationally this past season with a 3.388 grade point average. It was SIUE's best finish nationally since placing 27th in 2018.
