Clarion, Pa. – The Edinboro wrestling team scored bonus points in four of their six bout wins as they defeated host Clarion 26-12 in MAC action Sunday afternoon inside Tippin Gymnasium.

In the first bout of the dual, Chris Vargo scored a 6-4 decision over Clarion's Travis Clawson. Vargo picked up a first period takedown and Clawson was able to score an escape to make it 3-1 after the first. Clawson rode Vargo for the full two minutes in the second. Clawson escaped to start the third making it 3-2. Vargo scored his second takedown of the match to push the lead to 6-2. Clawson was able to escape and earned the riding time point to set the final.

Colton Camacho was the first Scot to score bonus points. He scored an early takedown of Mason Prinkey and wasted little time turning him for the fall in 1:51. The pin extended the Edinboro lead to 9-0.

Clarion's Gianni Silvestri jumped ahead of Anthony Ferraro with a first period takedown. Trailing 3-0 in the second, Ferraro choice the bottom position and scored an escape and a takedown to pull ahead 4-3 after two. Silvestri put the start of the third in neutral, and Ferraro used a takedown and four near-fall points to earn an 11-3 major decision.

In the first period, Clarion's Kyle Schickel scored a takedown of Colin Roberts to grab a 3-0 lead. Roberts escaped before the end of the period to cut the lead to 3-1. Roberts scored an escape for the lone point of the second to trim the lead to 3-2. Schickel got out to open the third taking a 4-2 decision and getting the Golden Eagles on the scoreboard.

Ryan Michaels put the Scots back in the win column scoring a 17-2 tech fall over Chandler Ho. Michaels notched a takedown and rode out Ho to take a 3-0 lead into the second. In the second, Michaels scored an escape and a takedown to go ahead 7-0. Ho got on the board with an escape but a stall point and takedown put Michaels ahead 11-1 after two. In the final period, Michaels scored two takedowns to secure the tech fall.

Max Kirby got on the board first at 165 scoring a takedown on Wesley Barnes who would escape to make it 3-1 after the first. Kirby extended the lead to 4-1 with a second period escape. Barnes escaped to start the third and Kirby was hit with a stall point, but held on for the 4-3 decision.

Brody Evans was the fourth Scot to earn bonus points with an 18-1 tech fall over Deegan Ross. Evans scored a takedown in the first and took a 3-0 lead to the second. Evans outscored Ross 11-1 in the second to take a 14-1 lead. In the third, Evans escaped to start the period and then scored a takedown to finish the tech.

In the first period, Adrian Gacek scored a takedown of Hunter Hutcheson. Hutcheson escaped  before the end of the period to make it 3-1 after one. Gacek scored a pair of takedowns while Hutcheson escaped three times to make it 9-4 after two. Gacek pushed his lead to 13-4 with an escape and takedown in the third. Hutcheson escaped and then took Gacek to cut the lead to 13-8. The riding time point gave Gacek a 14-8 decision.

Ethan Wiant used a first period takedown to hold a 3-0 lead over Nick Lodato after one. Lodato cut the lead to 3-1 after a second period escape. Wiant opened the third with a reversal and then scored two near-fall points. Wiant also grabbed the riding time point to score an 8-1 decision.

Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, Kade Sottolano and Austin Champman needed overtime. After a scoreless sudden victory, Sottolano escaped in seven seconds in the first tiebreaker. Sottolano was called for locked hands tying the score 2-2. Still in the bottom position, Chapman escaped to take a 3-2 lead. He countered a late takedown bid from Sottolano with a takedown of his own to score a 6-2 decision.
