Bloomsburg Sweeps LIU Try-Meet Tuesday Evening
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Bloomsburg wrestling team earned a pair of wins at the LIU Tri-Meet on Tuesday, December 9. The Huskies ran away with a 47-6 win over Nassau County Community College before taking down host LIU 20-13. The Huskies posted 11 total bonus point wins between the two matches.

The Huskies opened the day with a dominant 47-6 win over NCCC. Jace Schafer set the tone with a tech fall at 125 to give the Huskies a 5-0 lead. Gavin Mundy (133) and Richie Woods (141) followed suit with tech falls of their own before Dustin Elliot gave Bloomsburg 21-0 lead with a pin at 149 pounds.
 
NCCC grabbed a win at 157 with a pin, but the Huskies rebounded as William Morrow posted a tech fall at 165 pounds. Braidon Woodward had the fifth tech fall for the Huskies at 174 pounds before Ethan Ducca pushed the Huskies' lead to 37-6 with a pin at 184.
 
Coy Raines (197) and Mason Rebuck (285) finished off the match with back-to-back tech falls for the Huskies to give Bloomsburg a 47-6 win. Bloomsburg posted bonus-point wins in all 10 matches against NCCC.

The Huskies closed out the night with a strong 20-13 win over LIU. Schafer once again got the Huskies off to a strong start with a 17-0 tech fall over Sawyer Ostroff at 4:18. LIU picked up a major decision at 133, and a win at 141 before Elliot gave the Huskies an 8-7 match lead with a 9-3 decision over Tommy Bonasera at 149 pounds.
 
LIU won 5-0 at 157 pounds to pull ahead 10-8, but Bloomsburg rattled off four-straight wins to seal the match win. Braidon Woodward won 7-1 at 165 pounds before Alderfer won 11-8 at 174 pounds to give Bloomsburg a 14-10 lead. Ethan Ducca won in extra time 4-1 over Anthony D'Alesio to give Bloomsburg a 17-10 lead before Raines clinched the match for the Huskies with a 7-3 decision over John Dusza at 197 pounds.
 
LIU finished off the match with a narrow 2-1 decision at heavyweight.


Edinboro Men's Wrestling Splits a Pair of Duals at Kent State
Kent, Ohio – The Edinboro men's wrestling team split a pair of matches at the Tri-State Santa Slam hosted by Kent State on Thursday.
 
The Scots dropped a 20-14 decision to Bellarmine in the opener before defeating MAC foe Kent Sate 30-14 in the night cap.
 
In the victory over Kent State, Edinboro fell behind 11-0 early, but Jacob Brenneman go the Scots on the board at 141 with a 13-7 decision over Mason Tieffel. Ryan Michaels trimmed the lead to 11-8 with a 21-6 tech fall over Silas Stits.
 
Garrett McChesney leveled the team score 11-11 with a 5-2 decision over Reese Stephen. Ryan Burgos was a winner by injury default at 165 to extend the lead to 17-11.
 
Tate Gieser notched a 17-3 major decision over Ethan Barr and Jared McGill picked up a major of his own 14-2 over Trent Thomas. The Golden Flashes' Blake Shcaffer cut the lead to 25-14 with a 10-4 decision over Brody Evans. Aden Roe closed out the match for the Scots with a 15-0 tech fall at 285.
 
Against the Knights, Edinboro saw themselves fall into a an 11-0 hole dropping decisions at 125 and 141 and a tech fall at 133.
 
Michaels broke the string with a 16-3 major decision over Zac Cowan. Bellarmine extended the lead at 157 with a Gray Ortis 7-0 decision over McChesney.
 
Burgos earned bonus points with an 18-10 major over Noah Hall at 165. Geiser dropped a tough 2-1 decision at 174. McGill picked up a major at 184 with an 18-4 victory over Jack Ring.
 
Evans cut the Knight lead to 16-14 heading to the final bout with a 9-3 decision at 197. Daulton Mayer secured the dual for Bellarmine with an 11-1 major decision over Roe.
 
The Scots are back in action on Friday, December 19 when they host Gannon at 7 p.m. inside McComb Fieldhouse.
 

Kent State Wrestling Splits Tri-State Santa Slam Action
KENT, Ohio- The Kent State Wrestling team finished the Tri-State Santa Slam on Thursday night with an even split in their two meets. The Golden Flashes came away victorious in the first meet of the night with an 18-16 win over Bellarmine and fell to the Edinboro Fighting Scots by a score of 30-14 in the first conference dual meet of the season.

The Blue and Gold won six bouts in their first dual against Bellarmine as Nico Calello (125) set the tone with a 4-1 sudden victory over Damion Ryan in the first match of the day, scoring a takedown to end it. Freshman Silas Stits (149) also scored a takedown in sudden victory to secure a 9-6 victory over Zac Cowan(Bellarmine).

Reese Stephen (157), Carson Miller (165), Trent Thomas (184), and Blake Schaffer (197) all came away with decision victories to help their team to a dual win over the Knights.

Kent State started their dual against Edinboro off strong as Calello recorded a 19-4 Technical Fall over Austin Zimmerman. Nick Molchak(133) followed that up by pinning Amonn Ohl in the third round. Schaffer won the other match for the Golden Flashes to secure his second of the day in a 10-4 decision over Brody Evans.

Up Next
The Flashes will have a quick turnaround as they gear up for another Tri-Meet in Western New York on Saturday. They will match-up against Gardner-Webb at 2 P.M. before going up against another conference foe in Buffalo at 4 P.M. inside the University at Buffalo's Alumni Arena.
