Description of Governing Body
The Council of Student-Athletes (COSA) is the Mid-American Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee shall consist of 26 current student-athlete members of MAC sponsored sports. Each institution shall appoint two MAC sponsored sport student-athletes to represent the institution on the Committee. One member shall be the national COSA representative. If the national COSA representative is in their year extension and not eligible and/or at the institution during this time, the institution may select two current student-athletes in addition totaling three.
COSA will be responsible for discerning initiatives for the benefit of student-athlete welfare and experience. In addition, the Chair, who will be the national COSA representative, will be the primary liaison to all other conference committees. The Chair will be supported by at least two additional members, voted on by the full Committee, as the Executive Committee.

2025-26 Initiative Programming
The COSA members select, plan, manage, and promote initiative efforts on campus at different times during the year. COSA has made a concerted effort through the passed decade to promote student-athlete well-being through hosted Awareness Weeks on inclusion and mental health. These weeks are generally based on a theme that is relevant to the MAC student-athlete experience.
Mental Health Week: September 29 – October 3, 2025
- Theme: Identity Beyond Athletics
- Burnout and care to prevent reaching that point
- Engagement in community beyond your sport/team
- Doomsday scrolling and unhealthy coping habits
- Tuesday night virtual session scheduled with Dr. Chelsi Day
Food Drive/Rivalry Games: throughout November 2025
Taking MACtion Summit: Monday, January 26, 2026
