MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State women's volleyball team (11-2, 2-0 MAC) finished its opening weekend of Mid-American Conference play with an unblemished record, topping Western Michigan (8-5, 0-2 MAC) for the second consecutive night in straight sets.
Camryn Wise finished the match with a career-best 16 kills on a nearly perfect .889 attack percentage.
Ava Smith followed with 15 kills, while
Gwen Crull recorded 10. Smith also had two of Ball State's six total service aces.
Lindsey Green and
Reese Axness helped Ball State to a .328 hitting clip, totaling 28 and 16 assists, respectively.
Defensively,
Sophie Ledbetter matched her dig total from the night prior, totaling 17. Green also hit the double-digit mark, tallying 10 digs. Five total Cardinals had five or more digs against the Broncos.
Tiffany Snook and Wise had a pair of blocks each, while Audrey Greer,
Mallory Pike and Crull had one.
The Ball State defense managed to hold Western Michigan to a .200 hitting percentage as a team. The Cardinals offense finished with 54 total kills, compared to Western Michigan who had just 33.
Ball State continues MACtion on the road with back-to-back contests next weekend at Toledo. First serve on Oct. 2 is slated for 6 p.m. ET, and Oct. 3 is scheduled for a start time of 4 p.m. ET.

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Ohio volleyball team (9-4, 2-0 MAC) swept Central Michigan (0-15, 0-2 MAC) 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Ohio finished with a .299 team hitting percentage, 43 kills, eight aces, nine blocks, 39 assists, and 37 digs. Central Michigan finished with a .163 team hitting percentage, 32 kills, five aces, seven blocks, 31 assists and 33 digs.
Senior
Emily Waddell was Ohio's top performer for the second game in a row. Waddell recorded a .421 attack percentage with a team-high 10 kills and two errors on 19 total attacks. The senior also led the team with 13.0 points. Senior

Rose Mahin combined for 16 kills.

Rowan Kelly was the Bobcats' lead setter, tallying a team-high 36 assists.

Gentry Brown and junior
Darbi Ricketts led Ohio at the service line with a team-high three aces each. Brown also recorded a team-high 13 digs. Ricketts and Kelly combined for 12 digs total.
Gardner and Mahin were top performers at the net. The pair led the team in blocks with three apiece.
The Bobcats will be back in action when they host a two-game series against Akron, starting on Friday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m. ET in the Convocation Center.
