CLEVELAND, Ohio - Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon A. Steinbrecher has named Kyle Klein Associate Commissioner for Sports Administration and Championships, effective July 1, 2026.
 
Klein has served in several roles since joining the MAC in 2015, most recently as Associate Commissioner for Championships & Special Events. Throughout his tenure, he has worked in communications, basketball operations, championship administration, marketing and special events. He also served as tournament director for the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and NCAA Bowling Championships.
 
In his new role, Klein will oversee all of the Conference’s Olympic sport championships, lead the NCAA championship bid process and manage several MAC special events, including the Basketball Tournament Block Party and the annual MAC Golf Outing.
 
A former baseball student-athlete at Eastern Michigan University, Klein is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He earned both of his degrees from EMU, receiving a Bachelor of Science in criminology and a master’s degree in criminal justice administration.
