CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Monday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2026 Division I Women’s ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. Eight of the Mid-American Conference's women's tennis teams earned All-Academic Team distinction. Additionally, 52 student-athletes from the league made the list of 1,501 Division I Women’s student-athletes named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
MAC Champion Toledo led the conference with nine student-athletes, followed by UMass and Western Michigan with eight honorees each.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, as well as be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
Mid-American Conference 2026 Division I Women’s ITA All-Academic and All-Academic Teams
Ball State University / Head Coach Sachin Kirtane
For the 26th time in 30 seasons, the Ball State women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team, after earning a 3.5 on Ball State's 4.0 scale.
In addition, seven members of the squad received individual ITA Scholar-Athlete accolades -
Asia Ting Fontana (3.7),
Sarah Shahbaz (3.8),
Noa Kosman (3.8),
Anya Tkachyk (3.9),
Jemima Williams-Phillips (3.9111),
Alana Bristow (3.933) and
Isabel Tanjuatco (3.9). This marks the third time Shahbaz and Tanjuatco have received the award, while Williams-Phillips, along with Bristow, have earned the honor twice.
University at Buffalo / Head Coach
The University at Buffalo women's tennis team was honored for its academic success as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced UB as one of its All-Academic Teams on Monday.

As a team, the Bulls earned All-Academic honors with a team GPA of 3.796.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its annual academic awards lists, with the Eastern Michigan University program well represented as the team and five individual student-athletes were recognized by the group. The awards were earned by teams and individuals meeting specific academic marks throughout the 2025-26 academic year.
Individually, five Eagles were named ITA Division I Women's Scholar-Athletes, including
Iva Daneva, Regina Mendez Carreño,
Matilde Parreira,
Kseniia Saenko, and
Sabrina Tolstova. Overall, the Eagles have now seen 38 different student-athletes honored by the ITA in program history, with Daneva, Parreira, Saenko, and Tolstova adding their names to the list this year while Mendez Carreño earned her second selection.
With five honorees in 2025-26, Eastern continued a streak of five consecutive years with at least four honorees named to the ITA list. Additionally, the five honors earned this season tied for the fifth-highest total in program history with the 2022-23 squad, while the 2020-21 and 2021-21 teams both produced a record-seven honorees for the Eagles.
As a team, the Eagles garnered their 14th all-time ITA Division I Women's All-Academic Team honor from the ITA dating back to the 2005-06 academic year. Eastern was one of 231 teams across NCAA Division I to earn the award this year.

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Monday afternoon that the Miami University tennis team, along with three student-athletes, earned ITA awards.
Allie Faulkner,
Maria Luisa Oliveira and
Avery Voss were named to the ITA Academic Team, while the Miami tennis team was awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
Northern Illinois University / Head Coach Eric Burns
The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team earned both team and individual academic honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced today. The Huskies received All-Academic Team recognition and five earned Scholar-Athlete honors.

NIU received All-Academic Team honors with a 3.524 Spring GPA, recognition the group has earned every year under head coach
Eric Burns since 2020.
University of Toledo / Head Coach Tracy Mauntler
The Toledo women's tennis team posted a 3.873 grade-point average throughout the 2025-26 academic year to earn the ITA All-Academic Team award for the sixth-straight season. In addition, all nine Rockets received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for their academic performance during the season.

Gaby Rondon (3.90) earned the third ITA academic honor of their careers.

JJ Scholten (3.81) were second-time honorees.
Anastasia Akuginova (3.68),
Isabella Barretto (3.92) and
Iva Jankovic (3.80) were named to the ITA Scholar-Athlete team for the first time in their careers.
The Rockets posted a 3.861 team GPA in the fall term, the second-highest mark in the department. The squad then tallied a 3.885 team GPA in the spring following their 2026 MAC Tournament Championship to lead the entire department.
