Men's Tennis Receives 2026 ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Team Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - On Monday, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2026 Division I Men’s ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic Teams. Five of the Mid-American Conference's men's tennis teams earned All-Academic Team distinction. Additionally, of the 1,008 Division I Men’s student-athletes named ITA Scholar-Athletes, 34 were from around the league.

Western Michigan led the conference overall with nine student-athletes, followed by Ball State with eight, and Toledo with seven. 

To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, a program must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, as well as be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

University at Buffalo / Head Coach Lee Nickell 
As a team, the Bulls earned All-Academic honors with a team GPA of 3.557 or better.

Five Bulls earned Scholar Athlete honors. To be a scholar-athlete, student-athletes must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA for the previous academic year. Buffalo's selections are Emiliano JorqueraMinjae KimCowen LauClement Mainguy and Theodoros Mitsakos.

The Northern Illinois University men's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team honors while five received Scholar-Athletes recognition, the organization announced today.  

Gustavo Juarez LopezLorenzo Leti Messina, Pratyaksh, Nikola Puntaric and Chiao Bo Suo Nan were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes. NIU received All-Academic Team honors with a 3.468 Spring GPA.

University of Toledo / Head Coach Al Wermer
The Toledo men's tennis team has earned the ITA All-Academic Team award for the ninth-straight season. The Rockets tallied a 3.591 team GPA in the fall 2025 term and earned a 3.586 GPA in the spring 2026 semester for a team GPA of 3.58 throughout the academic year.

Seven Rockets received ITA Scholar-Athlete honors for their academic performance throughout the 2025-26 season. Senior Matias Olivero (3.85) and junior Charlie Snow (3.75) earned their second consecutive nod to the ITA Scholar-Athlete team. Lucas Britez (3.52), Alejandro Gonzalez (4.00), Poonthong Komolpisut (3.79), AJ Sidoti (3.84) and Pannawat Suttisomboon (4.00) received the award for the first time in their careers.
