CLEVELAND, Ohio – Eastern Michigan University has been named the recipient of the Institutional Sportsmanship Award. This marks the first time in program history that the Eagles have received the honor as voted upon by MAC membership.
““Being recognized by our peers across the Mid-American Conference means a great deal to our department and our university community,” said EMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Scott Wetherbee. “This honor reflects the way our student-athletes, coaches, and staff compete, represent Eastern Michigan, and carry themselves every day. We take pride in competing with integrity, respect, and class, and this award speaks to those values.”
The Institutional Sportsmanship Award evolved from the Conference strategic plan as the value of sportsmanship was the center of the Conference mission statement and core values. In the voting process, every MAC institution received votes, which further supports that sportsmanship is emphasized and expected from our student-athletes, coaches and administrators across each and every MAC campus.
