Miami Wins Reese Trophy For 27th Time in Program History

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Miami University was honored by the Mid-American Conference with the Reese Trophy as the top men's athletic program during the 2025-26 academic year. This marks the second year in a row, and the 27th time in program history, that the RedHawks have secured the award.

During the 2025-26 academic year, Miami competed in six men’s sports and won the men’s golf championship while also claiming regular season titles in men’s basketball and baseball. The RedHawk football team also made it to the MAC Championship title game. Miami's score this year marks the highest men's score of all time.

This marks the fifth time in school history, and third time in the last seven years, that Miami University has swept the men’s and women’s all-sports awards. The RedHawks also claimed both trophies in 2025, 2019, 1997 and 1983.

"Winning these awards is a testament to our amazing student-athletes across all our sports, along with our talented coaches and staff that guide them on our mission to Graduate Champions from Miami University", said Director of Athletics David Sayler. "To win both all sport trophies two years in a row, a feat that has never been done before in the history of the Mid-American Conference, is a tremendous accomplishment for all RedHawks to be proud of. Success like this is not accidental, it is purposeful and comes with tremendous commitment from everyone involved with Miami University - along with strong support from our donors and fans. Kudos again to our fantastic student-athletes on an amazing year, but I want to stress that we are not done and will not rest in our relentless pursuit of comprehensive excellence."

“This is an extraordinary accomplishment for our athletic programs to be awarded the Jacoby and Reese All-Sports Trophies," Miami University President Greg Crawford said. "This marks the second consecutive year our teams have earned this honor, a testament to their hard work, competitive spirit, and unwavering commitment to teamwork. As a student-first institution dedicated to excellence, we are proud of our student-athletes who excel on the field, court, and pitch as well as in the classroom. Our student-athletes exemplify Miami's enduring values of love and honor."

For the Reese Trophy, points are awarded based on each school’s finish, with the overall total divided by the number of sports sponsored by each school. The men’s trophy is named for former MAC Commissioner David E. Reese.  Reese was the first-ever MAC Commissioner and served the conference from its inception in 1946 until 1964.
