AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron softball team learned its fate for the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament on Sunday, May 10, as the Blue and Gold will travel to Baton Rouge, La., to compete in the Baton Rouge regional hosted by LSU.

The Blue and Gold will battle No. 4 LSU in their first game of the regional on Friday, May 15. Along with the Zips, the Baton Rouge regional will feature No. 5 Virginia Tech and South Alabama.

This marks the first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance for the Zips since moving to Div. 1. Akron claimed both the Mid-American Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles this season and holds a 33-23 record heading into the NCAA Tournament.
