ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Bobcats and Miami RedHawks will close out the 2025-26 Mid-American Conference women’s basketball regular season Saturday at 6 p.m. ET live on ESPNU inside the Convocation Center in Athens.
For the first time since the 2003-04 season, Miami captured the Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship with a 71-52 win over Kent State on Wednesday evening. Amber Tretter recorded 22 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks, while Ilse de Vries (18) and Tamar Singer (11) also scored in double figures.
The win also helped the RedHawks secure the top seed in the 2026 MAC Women’s Basketball Tournament, set a new program record for wins in a season and finish the regular season with a perfect home record for the first time ever.
With a win against the Bobcats, Miami will match its program record for conference wins with 17.
Despite being picked to finish 10th in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Poll, Ohio has clinched its spot in the 2025-26 MAC Women's Basketball Tournament. After not seeing success for several seasons and missing out on last year's Tournament, the team has already exceeded expectations with a 16-12 overall record and 10-7 conference record. Ohio has already doubled its win total from the 2024-25 season and saw one of its best starts to conference play since the 2015-16 season. The Bobcats currently sit amongst the top five teams in the MAC standings.
With their win against Eastern Michigan on Wednesday night, Ohio won at least 10 conference games for the first time since the 2021-22 season.
