MAC Announces Week 8 Women's Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Kassidy Morris, UMass, Attack

Kassidy Morris recorded her fourth consecutive game with at least four goals and six points, scoring six times in an 18-6 win at Robert Morris. She accounted for six of the Minutewomen’s first 13 goals and reached the six-goal mark with more than nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. Her fifth goal of the game marked the 212th of her career, breaking the program record previously held by Katie Ferris. The performance also extended her streak of hat tricks to eight in 10 games this season. Over her last two outings, she has totaled 13 goals, and across her last four games, she has compiled 22 goals and seven assists.

Defensive Player of the Week
Marisa Gatz, UMass, Defender

Marisa Gatz delivered a strong defensive performance in UMass’ 18-6 win at Robert Morris, collecting three ground balls and a career-high three caused turnovers. She anchored a defensive unit that has allowed just 10 goals through its first three Mid-American Conference games. The Minutewomen held the Colonials scoreless over the final 27 minutes and surrendered just one goal across the last 37:32 of play. For the season, Gatz has totaled 10 ground balls and eight caused turnovers.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week
Maddy Porter, Eastern Michigan, Goalkeeper

Maddy Porter finished the game at Akron with nine saves, five ground balls, and two caused turnovers. She recorded at least two caused turnovers for the fourth time this year while posting four or more ground balls in a game for the fourth time this season. Porter is averaging 3.85 ground balls per game to lead the MAC and ranks seventh nationally while her 108 total saves is first in the conference and seventh nationally as well.
