O
ffensive Player of the Week
Kassidy Morris, UMass, Attack
Redshirt Senior, Washago, Ontario (Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School)
Morris put together a sensational week, totaling nine goals and six assists to post seven or more points in both victories. She opened the week with four goals and three assists in a road win at Dartmouth Big Green, a team that entered the matchup with just one loss after beginning the season 5-0. Morris’ seven-point performance was the most by any player against Dartmouth through its first seven games and marked the highest single-game point total the Big Green had allowed all season. In fact, she recorded more points in the contest than goals Dartmouth had surrendered in any of its first three games.
She followed that effort with another dominant showing in the MAC opener at Youngstown State Penguins, finishing with eight points on five goals and three assists in a convincing 21-3 win. The outing marked her fourth game this season with seven or more points. Morris’ final goal of the afternoon, which came with 6:12 remaining in the fourth quarter, was the 200th of her career, making her just the second player in program history to reach the milestone. She now sits 11 goals shy of Katie Ferris’ program record of 211.
Defensive Player of the Week
Bridget Valentine, UMass, Defender
Junior, Massapequa Park, N.Y. (Massapequa)
Valentine was stellar in a pair of wins for the Minutewomen. In a road matchup at Dartmouth Big Green, who entered the contest 5-0 and averaging 17.83 goals per game, she recorded three groundballs, a season-high-tying three caused turnovers and two draw controls. She also anchored a defensive effort that held the Big Green to 14 goals — nearly four below their season average entering the day.
She followed that performance with another strong outing in the MAC opener at Youngstown State Penguins. Valentine tallied four groundballs, a caused turnover and five draw controls, tying for the game high. She also found the back of the net for her third goal of the season, helping secure the conference-opening victory.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Maddy Porter, Eastern Michigan, Goalkeeper
Junior, Montrose, N.Y. (Hendrick Hudson)
Maddy Porter was huge for the Eagles in their 12-6 defeat of Kent State in their MAC opener as she finished with 16 saves and four ground balls while allowing just six goals, the fewest permitted in a game this year (was seven in a 9-7 home win over Xavier, Feb. 14).
The 16 saves ranked as the fourth-highest in single-game history at EMU while breaking the record for saves in a MAC contest with the previous mark set last year at Kent State (April 13, 2025) when she halted 14 attempts.
With her 16 saves, Porter surpassed another milestone as she now has 406 saves in her career. The second player in program history to record 100 career saves, Porter is the only netminder to reach 200, 300, and now 400. Porter currently ranks second nationally in saves with 95 while ranking 10th in saves per game (9.50) and eighth in ground balls per game (3.50).
