YPSILATNI, Mich. —
The Miami University volleyball team (13-5, 5-2 MAC) took down Eastern Michigan (8-11, 2-5 MAC) in a four-set match (17-25, 25-23, 29-27, 26-24) on Thursday evening to extend its win streak to five wins in a row.

Defensively, Creech had a team-high 20 digs, while Coyne put down five blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Miami kept it close at six apiece in the first set, thanks to a pair of kills from Coyne and Chelsea Williams. The Eagles pulled away to 12-8 before the RedHawks forced an EMU timeout after scoring three straight points. Two kills from Kreutz, as well as a block and a kill from Coyne, helped Miami stay in the fight, but the effort fell just short as the RedHawks fell 25-17 in the first set.
  • Eastern Michigan opened the second set with an 8-0 advantage. Miami used a 5-0 run behind a flurry of kills and a Creech service ace to trail 8-5. Behind 18-11, multiple attack errors, two kills and two more service aces from Creech evened the score at 18-18. The Red and White did not look back, as Miami went on to score the final three points of the set to secure a 25-23 victory.
  •  The Eagles claimed a 7-3 lead at the beginning of the third set. The RedHawks fought to get back in the set at 8-7 when EMU responded by stretching its lead to 14-8. Creech served back-to-back service aces to give the RedHawks momentum, as they eventually tied the set at 18-18. A service ace from Utley and an attack error from the Eagles gave Miami its first lead of the third set at 22-21. After some back-and-forth action, a block from Coyne and Raegan Lantz and a kill from Williams handed Miami a 29-27 third-set win.
  • Eastern Michigan got off to another hot start in the fourth set when Miami answered with four kills in a row to jump ahead 7-6. Lantz added four kills to keep the Red and White within striking distance at 14-12. A kill from Kreutz and two kills from Lydia Michelin knotted the score at 15-15. Down 23-20, the RedHawks outscored the Eagles 6-1 to take the fourth set 26-24.
NOTES:
  • Kreutz totaled the most kills (13) and digs (20) of her career.
  • Creech served the most aces of her career (five).
  • Utley had a season-high 26 assists.
