BOSTON, MA -- Kent State’s Delrecco Gillespie has been named the Lou Henson award National Player of the Week, becoming the second recipient of the honor from the Mid-American Conference this season. The 6-foot-8 senior led the Golden Flashes to a pair of conference wins last week.
Last Tuesday, Delrecco finished with 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks and 1 steal at Buffalo. On Friday, against rival Toledo, he posted 29 points, 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block. For the week he was 20-for-30 from the field and was 8-of-10 from the free throw line.
The Lou Henson award is presented annually to the top mid-major player in division I college basketball. The award voting panel is made up of current division I coaches, athletic administrators, and senior College Insider staff members.
