Camryn, Baxter, Cogger Secure Week 5 Field Hockey Accolades

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference has announced its Week 5 Field Hockey Award Winners, as voted on by the league's head coaches. Central Michigan senior forward Mallory Camryn earned her second Offensive Player of the Week award of 2025, while App State junior midfielder/defender Sophia Baxter also took home Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Central Michigan graduate student Ashley Cogger added to the Chippewa accolades, claiming Goalkeeper of the Week recognition to round out the latest batch of weekly accolades.

Mallory Camryn led the Chippewa offense to back-to-back MAC wins, CMU's first time meeting the mark since 2020. Camryn scored once in a 2-1 win over Ball State, and capped off her weekend with a hat trick and an assist in a 5-4 OT win over Ohio. In Sunday's game against Ohio, Camryn netted the game-winner two minutes into overtime and scored the Chippewas' first two goals of the game. She additionally logged an assist on the overtime forcing goal with 31 seconds remaining in regulation.

MAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week
Sophia Baxter, Junior, Midfielder/Defender, App State

Sophia was an unstoppable two-way force this weekend, anchoring the defense while providing a vital offensive spark. She scored a goal in both conference victories against Bellarmine and #18 James Madison. Defensively, she was impenetrable, helping to anchor a defense that did not concede a single shot against Bellarmine in the shutout win. Against #18 James Madison, she was pivotal in neutralizing multiple fast breaks, helping to limit the Dukes to just eight shots on goal compared to App State's 16.

MAC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week
Ashley Cogger, Graduate Student, Central Michigan

Ashley Cogger held down the cage for CMU on Friday when she entered at the top of the second half against Ball State. Entering in a 1-0 deficit, she kept the Cardinals scoreless, logging five saves in the process to help secure the Chippewa win. Cogger then earned Sunday's win for her second of the weekend, recording nine saves in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Bobcats.
