Zips, Broncos Earn Week 4 Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

Offensive Player of the Week
Delaney Gash, Outside Hitter, Akron
Leading the Zips to a 2-0 week to conclude non-conference action, Delaney Gash hit .297 while collecting a team-leading 33 kills. Averaging 4.71 kills per set, she registered 19 kills and seven digs against Youngstown State while adding 14 kills and a .303 hitting percentage in a sweep of Cleveland State.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Elaina Erickson, Libero, Western Michigan
Elana Erickson totaled 74 digs (6.73/set) and went a perfect 26-for-26 in serve receive to earn an All-Tournament Team spot over the weekend at the Kendall's Battle at the Capital Credit Union Classic. The sophomore opened the tournament with a career-high 34 digs in the five-set win over Green Bay and followed that up with 23 digs against Northern Iowa. Erickson then closed out the weekend with 17 digs in Saturday's sweep of Tennessee Tech.
 
Setter of the Week
Martina Villani, Akron
Once again setting a career-high in assists, Martina Villani anchored the Zips offense in a pair of victories. Recording a career-high 48 assists at Youngstown State, Villani also added eight digs, three kills, two blocks and two aces against the Penguins. She would register 31 assists in a 3-0 victory over Cleveland State while adding six digs, three kills, three aces and three blocks in the home victory over the Vikings.
